Defensive End Brandan Graham, who was selected infamously in the first round of the 2010 draft (13th overall) has been on a mission this year to prove people who consider him to be a bust wrong. Graham was selected ahead of NY Giant Jason Pierre-Paul and was injured in his rookie season and required micro fracture surgery. Graham has told reporters that he is using the doubters as fuel to elevate his game this season. “Right now, I’m a bust, so I’m going to deal with that. I’m a bust, and I’m going to keep being a bust. Even when I make plays, I’m going to still act like I’m a bust. You know what I’m saying?” Graham recently told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Going through that whole thing last year, not playing, I just grew as a person, that was number one. I’ve moved on from it. Now it’s time for me to defend myself.”

DeSean Jackson, who had been with the team for the first couple of weeks of OTAs had an undisclosed family matter to tend to this week, and has been absent from practices.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has impressed in camp so far, giving the team hope that he can return to the Pro Bowl level he played at prior to be trading to the Eagles by the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for Kevin Kolb. While the practices thus far have been passing practices, some say that DRC’s speed has been amazing as he reacquaints himself with the outside after playing predominantly in the slot last season. Trading Asante Samuel has allowed Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie the opportunity to reprise his old position.

The Eagles have an over abundance of quarterbacks at this point, but the early edge to backup Michael Vick has been given to Mike Kafka. Kafka was a 4th round pick (122 overall) in 2010, but has primarily been the third string quarterback behind Michael Vick in 2010 and Vince Young last year. The Eagles also have Trent Edwards on the roster and they drafted QB Nick Foles from Arizona in the 3rd round of this year’s draft. The Eagles have already parted ways with free agent signee Jacory Harris from the University of Miami.

Eagles’ formal camp opens for rookies at Lehigh University on July 22nd. Veterans will report on July 25th and the first full team practice will be on July 26th. The team also announced that they will be rearranging their practice schedule, doing walk-throughs in the morning and full practices in the afternoon. It had been the reverse for a number of years.
