First it was QB coach John DeFilippo going to the Minnesota Vikings to be their offensive coordinator. Now it’s offensive coordinator Frank Reich taking over as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. But Eagles’ head coach Doug Pederson knows this is how things work. And he couldn’t be happier for both DeFilippo and Reich. He especially knows how deserving Reich is to get his own chance.

“Frank is a tremendous coach and very deserving of this opportunity. He was a valuable member of our staff and we have all benefited from working with him over the last two years.”

Pederson doesn’t stop there.

“As good as he is as a leader and teacher, he’s an even better person. We could not be more excited for him as he takes this next step in his career and we wish him and his family all the best.”

That’s that. Of course, the Eagles’ coach wasn’t alone in his praise of Reich. Enter starting quarterback Carson Wentz.

“Lookin’ good Coach! Gonna miss working with you. Wish it didn’t have to end but it was an unbelievable two years! Can’t thank you enough! Indy, you got a great one!”

The Eagles figure to be strong favorites to reach the NFL’s promised land again next season. Their window is firmly open, Carson Wentz is on his way back, and they’ll have many of the same faces returning. But this time, they won't be underdogs.

And the Eagles know that.
