The Philadelphia Eagles are set to retire Donovan McNabb’s #5 jersey on September 19 of the upcoming season. The retirement ceremoney will be held during the Eagles nationally televised game at Lincoln Financial Field against the Kansas City Chiefs. McNabb spent 11 seasons with the Eagles after the team drafted him second overall in the 1999 NFL Draft. He is the Eagles’ all-time leader in pass attempts (4,746), completions (2,801), yards (32,873) and touchdowns (216). Many are wondering whether or not McNabb will be booed during the ceremony in Philadelphia, which isn’t exactly home to the most forgiving fans in all of sports. They may or may not be able to forget the fact that McNabb went on to play for the division rival Washington Redskins, as well as the Minnesota Vikings, following his career in Philly.
