The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in pursuing St. Louis
Rams wide receiver and free agent Danny Amendola, according to Geoff Mosher of
Amendola is a talented slot receiver that can also play
outside and is known as a solid return man. His skills would appear to fit the
system of new Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.
At this point, it’s unclear how hard the Eagles plan on pursuing
Amendola. The 27-year-old figures to garner interest from several teams this
offseason, possibly including the New England Patriots.
If Amendola were to sign with the Eagles, he’d join a group
of wide receivers that already includes DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason
Avant, Riley Cooper and Damaris Johnson. Considering the extensive list, Mosher
predicts that if Philadelphia acquired Amendola one of the team’s other
receivers would be shown the door.
Amendola has dealt with injuries, as he was limited to 11
games last season. But when he’s been healthy enough to suit up, he’s been a
productive player. He caught 63 passes for 666 yards last season.
