The Eagles announced today that they have signed DT Derek Landri to a one year deal.

Landri will take Antonio Dixons spot on the roster, who was placed on IR today with a torn tricep. Dixon injured the tricep in last weekends loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Here is the Eagles press release on the move.

The 28-year-old Landri (6-2, 290) spent the 2011 preseason with the Eagles, but was released as part of the team’s final roster cutdown. He is entering his fifth NFL season after spending the first four years of his career in Jacksonville (2007-09) and Carolina (2009-10). Landri started all 16 games for the Panthers in 2010, posting 43 tackles and three sacks after being acquired by the team off waivers from Jacksonville on December 4, 2009. While with the Jaguars in 2007, Landri recorded a sack and an interception of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger in an AFC Wild Card playoff game at Pittsburgh. He also recovered a fumble in the final moments of the contest to seal the win.   Originally a fifth round draft pick of the Jaguars in 2007, Landri starred at Notre Dame as a nose guard, recording 10.5 sacks and 161 tackles. The Concord, CA, native attended De LaSalle High School, where he was a teammate of Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew.

Landri was a player who many expected to make the roster out of training camp, but was cut in favor of Trevor Laws.

Now he gets the chance to show everyone he belonged on the roster all along.
