New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was furious at Tampa Bay’s Greg Schiano on a cheap shot at trying to get the ball back during a kneel down in last Sunday’s match up. Tampa went low on the Giants offensive linemen in an attempt to put a hit on quarterback Eli Manning. In NFL circles, there is a code for conduct. You don’t smack the back of a losing coach in celebration (Jim Harbaugh), or run up the score (Bill Belichick), or try to force a fumble when a team is about to close out the game on a kneel down. Coughlin is as old school as it gets, so he knows the unspoken rules of engagement. However, hot shot newbie Schiano wants to start a new set of rules: “Guard your grill at all times,” Coughlin barked at the first year head coach.
