Found October 25, 2012 on The Colts Authority:
Eric Smith of Bleacher Report has some midseason player evaluations as well as some very high opinions of our Indianapolis Colts, which he believes should be 4-2 if not 5-1 right now.  He is also very impressed with former CFL linebacker Jerrell Freeman, calling him one of the five best players on the team: Freeman has a team high 55 tackles, one sack, one interception, and one touchdown this season. That's a far cry from his CFL days the last two seasons and being cut from NFL teams prior to that. Now that Angerer is back Freeman only boosts the depth at the linebacking spot and helped proved the doubters wrong. If it wasn't for Freeman the Colts wouldn't be 3-3 right now. He's surely going to be a staple on this roster for years to come. While I'm not sold on the idea that the Colts wouldn't be where they are without Jerrell Freeman, there's no denying he was a great find by the Colts' front office.  Indy now has three absolute tackling machi...

Former division 3 football player takes rough road to NFL for Colts

Next to Jerrell Freeman’s name is “Mary Hardin-Baylor”-indicating the school which he played his college football. But its not just a long name for the well known Big 12 university, one that produced 2011 Heisman Trophy Winner RG3. Indeed Mary Hardin-Baylor is its own school in Belton, Texas and has about 2,800 students. Its a Christian school located in the central part of...

Richards: Brackett still loves city, team that gave him a chance in the NFL

Phil Richards of The Indianapolis Star has a great article today on Gary Brackett, who, according to Richards, has seen some interest from other teams, but it still recovering from his surgery.  If you're not familiar with Brackett's story, I would recommend finding some time to learn about him.  He's a fascinating person both on and off the football field. Here'...

Could Josh Chapman be the answer in the middle?

The Indianapolis Colts have struggled in the middle of their defensive line, both against the run and in putting pressure on the quarterback by limiting the pocket. The return to practice of rookie fifth round pick Josh Chapman could bring some welcome relief to a position beset by injuries.   At 6'0" and 316 pounds, Chapman has the physical stature of the prototypical...

Kravitz: Luck's Pressure over Griffin's Stats

Bob Kravitz chooses a side in the debate: Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III? Basically, Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne? Kent, the down-to-earth fella' with the straight-edge persona and studious appearance. Wayne, the flashy news piece with a cool public image. Both are handy in a pinch, something the Colts and Redskins are finding out about Luck and RG3. The two teams combined for...

Widlic: Colts Look to End the Streak

I've taken some heavy flak recently for linking to Bob Kravitz and Brad Wells, but I think I finally have an entirely uncontroversial reporter in Chris Widlic. His article, on Indy's recent road woes, is clear, has a good quote by Reggie Wayne, and lays out the basics. Don't turn the ball over. Force turnovers. Pass to those five guys (okay, that was me). Point is...

Hitchhiker's Guide to Colts at Titans, Week 8

The Indianapolis Colts rode a strong first half offense and some timely defensive plays to overcome injuries and the Cleveland Browns to move their record to 3-3 and remain in the middle of the AFC playoff picture. The next stop on their journey to a quick turnaround is Tennessee, where they'll take on a Titans team who has overcome a slow start to add their name into AFC...

Colts hoping to turn things around at Tennessee

(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By MICHAEL MAROT AP Sports Writer Andrew Luck has no problem doing his homework. He'd just like to pack up the lessons, put them in a suitcase and pull them out whenever the Colts hit the road. ''I wish I had all the answers,'' the Colts quarterback said Wednesday. ''I think we just need a little more focus, we need to...

Film Breakdown: Using All-22 to Analyze Luck's Sack-Fumble

Earlier this week, I broke down the film from the Colts' first two sacks against the Browns. I chose to wait on this final sack so as to use the All-22 film to completely breakdown what is happening, as it's occurrence had more weight (or could have) than the other sacks did.  The play itself was an interesting call, after averaging over four yards per carry on the drive...

Indianapolis Colts: Week 8 NFL Power Rankings (#18)

Last week: 18 (+1) Record: 3-3 If the Colts can go into Tennessee and beat the Titans, who, by the way, have the league’s worst points differential, they’d stand at 4-3 in a horrible AFC. Their remaining schedule is as following: vs. Miami, @ Jacksonville, @ New England, vs. Buffalo, @ Detroit, vs. Tennessee, @ [...]

Enemy Intelligence: Indianapolis Colts

To find out more about what the 2012 Indianapolis Colts look like, I went through my normal practice of watching the next opponent's previous game. Coming off their bye, the Colts beat the Cleveland Browns at home last week by a final score of 17-13 to improve their record to 3-3 on the year. Andrew Luck scored twice on the ground in the first half, and the defense held...

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans: Three Bold Predictions

The Indianapolis Colts took care of business against the Cleveland Browns at home last week, as they pulled out the 17-13 victory. Andrew Luck rushed for two touchdowns to go along with his 186 passing yards. As for the Tennessee Titans, they are coming off a win that was achieved in the final minute of the game. Matt Hasselbeck threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to his wide receiver...

Colts Authority NFL Picks Challenge Week 8

It's Saturday again, thank goodness.  It's time to try to beat the Colts Authority writers at picking NFL games.  Okay, it's time for family, yard work, and TV.  But after that, it's time for NFL picks and bragging rights.  Currently, our own Josh Boeke is picking winners at an impressive 73% rate.  We also had a reader, Dan Graham, go 12-1 (92%) last...
