The so-called "World Wide Leader in Sports" ran a poll last week to determine want NFL franchise was truly "America's Team". The four letter network collected the votes, tallied them, and in the end with a whopping 8.8% of the vote the Dallas Cowboys were once again declared "America's Team". It's enough to make you sick isn't it. However, there is a silver lining in that dark Texas sized cloud. As Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com points out ESPN's poll was extremely flawed. For one, only 1,500 votes were taken, that's an extremely small sample size for a population of roughly 313 million people. And of the 1,500 people tallied, only 132 of the votes were for the Cowboys. I'll repeat that, only 132 of the votes were for the Cowboys. ESPN has the gall to say the Cowboys are "America's Team" based off of 132 people. I know ESPN is just tying to create web traffic, but if they really wanted to get a good estimate on America's favorite football team you've got to extend the sample size to at least several hundred thousand if not to at least one million votes. I'm sure the Cowboys are one of the nations most popular teams in spite of only winning one play-off game in the last 15 year, however if you're going to "crown them" at least do it with more than 132 votes.
