ESPN had their special 2012 AFC North preview show Tuesday and it included the division predictions of Herm Edwards, Bill Polian and Marcellus Wiley at the end of the show. Both Edwards and Wiley have the Baltimore Ravens winning the division while Polian has the Cincinnati Bengals winning it in 2012. All three had the Pittsburgh Steelers finishing third and the Cleveland Browns finishing last. Wiley did preface his pick of the Steelers finishing behind the Bengals by saying that the two will tie record wise and that the Bengals get the second spot due to tie-breakers. Johnson Versus Johnson Training Camp Battle Appears To Be On The Horizon

The Pittsburgh Steelers have completed their first two OTA practices of the 2012 season and quite a good bit of information has come out since the team has reassembled this week in Pittsburgh. The past few days we received confirmation on what we already knew heading into the week and that is that there are two fullbacks on the roster in the form of David Johnson and Will Johnson...

The Overhaul of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Offensive Line

A sight that has been way too familiar in Pittsburgh.   For as good as the Pittsburgh Steelers have been over the past 20 years, it’s difficult to recall a time when they had a good offensive line.  The teams of the mid-1990′s had several good pieces in C Dirt Dawson and T’s John Jackson and Leon Searcy, but it is not a stretch to argue that the Steelers have had among...

Man Who Gave Mike Tomlin His First Coaching Job, Bill Stewart, Has Passed Away

Former West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart has passed away at the age of 59 today after apparently suffering a heart attack on a golf course. Stewart was the man responsible for giving Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin his first college coaching job in 1995 at Virginia Military Institute. Stewart ultimately resigned the head coaching job at VMI in 1996 after making a racially...

Should The Steelers Consider Adding Wallace Gilberry?

By Cian Fahey The Pittsburgh Steelers have very few needs at this point in the off-season. The draft addressed the most pivotal of those with new offensive linemen, another body to play nose tackle and an additional running back. Just because the primary needs have been filled, that does not mean that the Steelers roster is in perfect shape now. The best front offices in the league...

Mendenhall not ruling out playing week 1

Scott Brown is reporting that Rashard Mendenhall has not ruled out playing week 1 of the regular season for the Steelers.  Mendenhall went down in the last week of the season versus Cleveland.  Week 1 would be a nine month recovery.  That would be good for someone like Casey Hampton who does not have to move laterally.  For Mendenhall though that quick of a recovery would be...

Troy Polamalu at OTAs and plans to attend all OTAs

A player who normally does not attend OTAs was out on the field today for the Steelers.  Safety Troy Polamlu who never attends these practices and works out with his own trainer in California was present today.  Troy plans on being at all OTAs and minicamps this season.  ”It’s my time to be around the team a little more.” Troy knows what he is doing.  He knows this team...

Harrison's Back 'Light Years' Better

James Harrison was a shell of his formerly fearsome self last year, but the 34-year-old told SCI.net publisher Jim Wexell that he's feeling much better this spring.

Troy Polamalu surprisingly attends OTA’s

Getty Images According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers safety Troy Polamalu is in attendance for this week’s OTA’s, which is kind of surprise since he typically works out in Los Angeles with a trainer. Maybe Polamalu realizes that working out with his teammates is better for the Steelers as a team.

That’s High Praise – Big Ben = Top 3 QB?

By Christopher DiMarino For any of you that have read my work on Steelers Depot, you may know a few things about me. The one that relates to this article is how I like writing analysis pieces about articles on NFL.com. While I am a fan of football and a connoisseur of its subtle nuances, a better word to describe me is a critic. More accurately a hater. When I say hate, I don’t...

Surprise Contender at LT?

Pittsburgh Steelers Pre-OTA Projected Opening Day 25-Man Offensive Roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers will open their first OTA on Tuesday and the team will get a first look at new offensive coordinator Todd Haley and his offense on the field. For some, it will also be the first time that they can start catching the staff’s eye and possibly earning a coveted roster spot. Unfortunately, the opening day roster is only made up of 53 players. Some will not...
