Evan Mathis, a free agent offensive guard, is feeling more wanted in the NFL than he has at any time in his career. Last year he was acquired by the Eagles for the veteran league minimum as compensation and had the best year of his career.
Now, Mathis is known as one of the best guards in the league and is fending off suitors, specifically the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens.
Philadelphia evidently slept at the wheel on this one, and before you knew it Mathis visited with the Ravens. And that visit was extended to an overnight stay. Generally not a good sign in these situations.
But there was a bit of a break for the Eagles, as Mathis left Baltimore without an offer. He quickly received one, though, and Philadelphia also put in a bid to hang on to the Mathis.
