The Saints are close to becoming a lame-duck team before assistant head coach Joe Vitt returns from his six-game suspension. Even so, interim head coach Aaron Kromer says he won't make drastic changes to a team that has competed hard and showed progress each week during a 0-4 start. The Saints haven't opened this poorly since 2007, which was Sean Payton's second year as head coach. This time, Payton can't help turn things around because of his season-long suspension in the NFL's bounty investigation. Kromer says the Saints are not giving up after four single-digit losses, the latest by one point at Green Bay. New Orleans next plays at home Sunday night against San Diego, which opened 0-4 in 1992, but still made the playoffs.

Johnny Unitas’ son sent Drew Brees a letter congratulating him on tying his father’s record

There was at least one bright spot for the Saints in the loss to the Packers on Sunday. During the game, Drew Brees tied NFL great Johnny Unitas’ record of 47 consecutive games with at least one touchdown. Brees now has a chance to break the record that has stood for 52 years this Sunday when the Saints play the Chargers. And all he has to do is do what he does best, throw a touchdown...

Drew Brees, Saints Struggling To Find Spark After Horrible Start

Let's see, where should I start?  Worst run defense in the league, pass defense ranks within the last ten teams in the league, only six total team sacks, no running game, numerous mental lapses… bottom line is the New Orleans Saints just aren’t really good right now and things won’t get any easier for them as the season progresses.Coming into the season, I knew the defense...

Saints thin at LB vs. Packers

Linebacker David Hawthorne is inactive for the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Hawthorne missed practice all week, and will be replaced by Will Herring. The Saints are thin at linebacker as backup Jonathan Casillas also is inactive because of a neck injury. Defensive end Turk McBride, running back Chris Ivory, cornerback Elbert Mack, defensive...

Saints Nation: Saints' Defensive and Special Teams Player Grades @ Packers

There's nothing more to say about this defense than to sum it up by saying they suck. I hate to be that crass or simplistic, but right now they really don't do anything well. The run defense is porous, the pass defense is shaky at best when they are 100% healthy (which hasn't been often) and the pass rush takes bad to a whole new level. I have a theory that this defense...

PSW week 4 Fantasy recap

Philly Sports World Fantasy Week 4 recap Predicting the Saints to lose and they did I am now 2-2, though not the way I predicted it. Drew Brees showed up and showed up big but it wasn’t enough. Fantasy owners got huge points off the 446 yards and 3 touchdowns. DUD of the week Cam Newton> had him as a fantasy sit against the Falcons and he has his best game of the year. Having...
