"The miscommunication was - we worked on it in practice, therefore we are going to do it in the game and that was my fault for not articulating that," Singletary explained Dec. 7, a day after the game. Last week, 49ers punter Andy Lee made sure to thank and credit Everest after Lee was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career.
The 49ers have not named a successor. Singletary is expected to immediately begin the process of filling the position.
