Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum made a questionable trade last offseason for Tim Tebow. It’s probably a big reason that he’s now the former GM, among other things, like a nonsensical contract extension for QB Mark Sanchez. But the trade for Tebow was on that left many scratching their heads, especially after the team rarely used him after saying they had big plans for him and the offense. Things obviously didn’t work out for the Jets horrendous offense last year, and some say that a change at QB could have helped spark the team, just as it had in Denver the previous season. Can Tebow be successful in the NFL? (AP Photo) Rex Ryan didn’t believe in Tebow, and still doesn’t as the team looks to send him on the first airplane out of New York as the business season opens up. But Tannenbaum is still a believer in Tebow – saying he’d either be successful or die trying, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. “This is a guy who was successful in high school, won championships in college, and he’s the type of person who’s either going to be successful as a pro quarterback or die trying,” Tannenbaum said. “He’s highly competitive. Obviously there’s some skills he has to work on. He has to be a more consistent thrower from the pocket, we all know that; the accuracy. But with that, there are things he does bring to the table.” Tannenbaum is right. I’m not here to say that Tebow will be a Hall of Fame QB, but I do believe he can get better if given the shot, just as he did in Denver where he was tasked to “pull the trigger” by John Elway. Tebow did just that – beating the Pittsburgh Steelers and sending them packing from the Playoffs when he was given a shot. Tebow was jettisoned from the Broncos after they brought in Peyton Manning, and he never had a real chance in New York. If there is a team out there that is interested, while scarce, Tebow can make things happen – there’s no denying that he’s a winner, we’ve seen in throughout his career as well as the collegiate level. He’ll either do it, or “die trying” with his work ethic and motivation.   Follow us on Twitter @DownandDistance Down and Distance Editor-in-Chief – Justin Arbogast @NFLGuy_SK The post Ex-Jets GM: Tim Tebow will be successful or Die Trying appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.
