Yesterday, we heard from ex-Giants WR Plaxico Burress, who now plays for the Jets. Among other things, he offered detailed recollections of his game-winning catch in Super Bowl XLII, outlining how he beat CB Ellis Hobbs and saying “thank you” for single-coverage. In today’s Boston Herald, Hobbs joins Burress in describing a play that is one of the NFL’s most indelible. This is my story. Hobbs remembered the play like it was yesterday, but began by saying that it didn’t bother him. He didn’t have to “make his peace with it. I know the story behind the story,” Hobbs told me. Then, he offered an explanation on several points inside that play, including how he received numbing shots to the groin before games, how players wondered about that call before the snap, and how he played the percentages by protecting against the inside route without any help.
