It’s safe to say that Cleveland Browns running back Chris Ogbonnaya has had a good couple of weeks. He rushed for 90 yards on 19 carries against the St. Louis Rams and, most recently, rushed for 115 yards on 21 carries to help lead the team to a 14-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. With Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty out with injuries, Ogbonnaya is certainly making the most of his opportunity in the spotlight. What is most impressive, so far, is his ability to close out games. The major chunks of his yardage have been coming late in games, which is a good sign. He appears to be a workhorse back, capable of wearing down a defense throughout a game.Despite these impressive performances, Browns fans need to temper their expectations for a player like Ogbonnaya. Far too often have the Browns caught lightning in a bottle with a running back for a short period of time, only to see him falter in the long run. Those players include, but are certainly not limited to, Jerome Harri...

BEREA, OhioDespite scoring two touchdowns and getting the win over the Jaguars, Pat Shurmur said he's seeing improvement in the offense, in general. Progress is a Low Bar for Browns Fans

If yesterday’s win over the Jaguars proved anything at all it is that Browns fans are very reasonable.  I know I have been preaching patience all season, much to the chagrin of many.  I have been very critical of Pat Shurmur’s offense, but when my conclusion turns to, “But they still have time to figure it out” a lot of you would groan and get mad at me.  I understand...

WFNY Roundtable: Taking Points Off the Board

Rick: Without turning this into a Shurmur discussion, I am interested to know everyone’s opinion on the Browns accepting the penalty on the made field goal today. The adage “you never take points off the board” is a fairly old and conservative one. It is exactly what went through my mind when I saw the flag fly on that play. For the sake of discussion, let’s use today...

The Browns, A Father, A Son, and a Win

Growing up the son of a Cleveland Browns season ticket holder, I was lucky. One of my earliest memories as a child watching my father kick my favorite toy across our living room after Minnesota’s Ahmad Rashad catch a Hail Mary from QB Tommy Kramer on the last play of the game on a freezing Minneapolis afternoon in December of 1980. I was four years old. I was six when my father...
