This Given Sunday:
Tonight the Atlanta Falcons travel to Detroit to play a Lions team that is realign as their season gets more and more depressing. On paper, this should be a blowout, but as the Texans found out on Thanksgiving, the Lions are no push over.
For those of you that are fans of NFL betting over the internet, the Falcons aren't a heavily favored team in this game, being given the nod by between 3 and 4.5 points. If the Lions show up, it'll be a great game.
The Lions have no post season aspirations. The closest the Lions will get to the big game is through Super Bowl betting, but with their luck, they wouldn't be making any extra money for the bank. At just 4-10, their season has snowballed after a rough, but promising start.
The Falcons are the exact opposite. They haven't been the most impressive team this season, but they've been consistent enough to run away with a tough division, the NFC South. Their goal is to get through the next two weeks without any ...

The Falcons are playing Saturday night and can lock-up home field throughout the playoffs with a win against the Lions.
Now that we're in the last two weeks of the season, the playoff scenarios are starting to come into focus.
Here's a look at the scenarios and my predictions:

HOUSTON TEXANS - Playing Minnesota
Atlanta Falcons safety Chris Hope was fined $30,000 by the league for a helmet-to-helmet hit against New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, The Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger reported Friday. Hope was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play in the third quarter of last Sunday's game. Hope told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier in the week that he thought he...
Falcons wideout Julio Jones has learned the value of avoiding the trap game after the Falcons were caught sleeping against the Panthers to register their second loss.
Jones told the league’s website that Atlanta can’t afford to look beyond their upcoming match-up against the Lions.

Although safety William Moore did not practice all week making it three weeks since he last practiced or played in a game the Falcons ruled him questionable for Saturdays game at Detroit when the team issued its status report for injured players on Friday.
Moore injured his hamstring in a Nov. 29 game against New Orleans and has missed the last two games. He had two interceptions...
Tweet The Atlanta Falcons gave up quite a few draft picks in an effort to select Julio Jones and so far he’s proving to be worth it. The second-year wide receiver has improved on his 54 reception, 959 yard, 8 touchdown rookie season with 69 catches, 1,071 yards (6th in NFC), and 9 receiving [...]
The Falcons are sitting pretty at 12-2. Tonight, they look at the Lions for a chance to hit 13-2. During the preseason I thought this team was good enough to be a contender this year but I wasn't sure how good our new identities would look on offense and defense. To my surprise, the Falcons look damn good. This week I want to give you my favorite players of the season...
The Atlanta Falcons came out roaring in their Saturday night game against the Lions. The Falcons took a 21-3 lead and held on to win 31-18. A regular season win is nice but more significant is that the Falcons have clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
On a night where Calvin Johnson would break Jerry Rice's individual single season receiving yard...
The Atlanta Falcons (12-2) will play against the Detroit Lions (4-10) on Saturday night. Scheduled for a 8:30 pm EST kickoff the game will air on ESPN from Ford Field in Detroit, MI.
What is the spread in the Falcons and Lions game? The Falcons are 4.5 point favorites against the Lions. The over/under for the game is set at 51 points.
The Falcons put on a convincing performance in...
The Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions kicked Week 16′s high-stakes action into swing on Saturday evening.
Sunday’s slate of games features plenty of cupcake contests that will affect the 2013 NFL Draft order, like the Raiders (4-10) at Panthers (5-8), Bills (5-9) at Dolphins (6-8), Chargers (5-9) at Jets (6-8) and Rams (6-7-1) at Buccaneers (6-8).
A handful of playoff hopefuls...
Calvin Johnson reeled in 11 catches for 225
yards in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons to move his season total to
1,892. Rice’s record of 1,848 had stood since 1995.
Johnson became the first player to ever go over 100 yards receiving in
eight straight games and catch at least 10 passes in four straight.

Atlanta Falcons (12-2) Detroit Lions (4-10)
Normally I like going against huge line movements because I hate week to week overreactions. This line was Atlanta -1 last week and now it’s at -4.5, skipping over two key numbers of 3 and 4. At first glance, this appears warranted. The Lions got blown out by the crappy Cardinals in Arizona, losing 38-10, while the Falcons got a huge...
DETROIT (AP) -- Matt Ryan got what he wanted.
Calvin Johnson was forced to settle for what he could get.
Ryan matched a career high with four touchdown passes, two to Roddy White, to help the Atlanta Falcons beat the Detroit Lions 31-18 Saturday night and earn home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.
"It's great," Ryan said. "Our confidence is high...

The final Monday Night Football game of the season will take place on Saturday when the Falcons head into Detroit with a chance to clinch the top spot in the NFC.
Detroit is reeling after six straight losses, which puts them in a far different situation than last year when they were fighting for a playoff spot.
The Falcons lost only their second game of the season...

It’s time for some Monday Night Football on Saturday night, as the Atlanta Falcons, the top birds in the NFC, cruise into town to take on the Detroit Lions. It’s time to officially put this particular match up in the category of games that looked better when the schedule came out last spring. The 12-2 Falcons have held up their end of...
