The Atlanta Falcons have thrown down the first dagger of the off-season, parting ways with Dunta Robinson, John Abraham, and Michael Turner. This ushers in a new era of Falcon football, while generating a huge amount of cap room.
The Michael Turner cut has been rumored for a while and we've speculated about cutting ties with Dunta Robinson. The big surprise is John Abraham but I guess it's not that surprising when you look at his age and durability down the stretch the past couple of seasons.
These three cuts have cleared $15.9 million from the salary cap. $6.4 million for Turner, $5.75 for Abraham and $3.75 for Robinson. The next few months just got very interesting for the Falcons. Despite coming within ten yards of a Super Bowl, Arthur Blank has shown his commitment to winning by making these difficult decisions. Atlanta is now in prime position to be very active in free agency.
