Found November 13, 2012 on Fox Sports South:
Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux said any harassment of former teammate Curtis Lofton, now a linebacker with New Orleans, before last Sundays 31-27 loss was done in good nature. Saints linebacker Scott Shanle, who was inactive for the game, accused the Falcons of trash-talking with Lofton and interfering with Saints pregame drills, according to a Yahoo! Sports. According to the report, Shanle said that Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma, the prime suspect in the NFLs Bounty-gate probe, went over to Falcons coaches to protest that what the Falcons players were doing was classless, Shanle said, but that Falcons coaches took no action. On Tuesday, ESPN.com, citing an anonymous source, reported that Falcons head coach Mike Smith would not take action with Babineaux and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, said to be the two main culprits in the incident. Weatherspoon, nursing an ankle injury, was ruled out for the game earlier in the week and did not play and, as a result, would not have suited up in his equipment during pregame drills. We (are) all friends with Curtis and, you know, guys messing around and Im sure he was doing the same thing, too, Babineaux told FOXSportsSouth.com. Its all about competing and having fun and its just friends out there competing against one another. You know how that is.

Ray Edwards clears waivers, free to sign anywhere

Former Atlanta Falcons defensive end Ray Edwards has cleared waivers after being cut this week. Edwards is now free to sign anywhere he wants.  If any teams are interested, they’ll likely be teams that run a 4-3 defense because he would not be a good fit for a 3-4.   var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName...

Saints' Joe Vitt keeping afloat during constant criticism of defense

It’s been a rough year in New Orleans. Just short of canceling Mardi Gras, the Saints are the big show in the Big Easy, but since the bounty scandal, its been tough sledding. The loss of head coach Sean Payton for the year and losing Vitt for 8 games, seemed to really throw off a team usually in sync on offense and timely on defense. However, the offense seemed to have gained...

Michael Turner's lost season

Full disclosure: I own Michael Smith on my only fantasy football team. More on that later, but at least you know that.Prior to the NFL season getting underway, I read the Falcons were going to move to a more uptempo style offense. I thought, why not? Matt Ryan is one of the good young quarterbacks in the league, and has a arsenal of weapons at his disposal. Julio Jones, Roddy White...

Atlanta Falcons: Looking For Answers in the Ray Edwards Flop

When the Atlanta Falcons went 13-3 a couple of seasons ago and were looking at home field advantage throughout the playoffs, things were looking good as far as their chances to get to the big game. Then, some guy named Aaron Rodgers came in and went into video game mode en route to a 48-21 thrashing that was only that close because coach McCarthy called off the wolves. The biggest...

Jonathan Vilma Rips Falcons Trash Talking

Per a report from Kathrine Terrell of NOLA.com and the Times-Picayune, New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma ripped the Falcons for the perceived disrespectful bravado they showed prior to the game last Sunday. During pregame warm ups, Vilma said the Falcons rubbed them the wrong way, instead of showing some respect and humility, they were “chirping the whole time” and...

New Orleans Saints: Week 11 NFL Power Rankings (#18)

Last week: 20 (+2) Record: 4-5 They’re the least likely of the three 2011 playoff teams who are currently 4-5 to go 1-6 and be this year’s team that goes from the playoffs to 5 wins or fewer, but I guess we can’t rule them out. They probably won’t be that team, however. That being said, they’re overrated. Yes, they knocked off Atlanta, but Dallas, Carolina, Washington,...

Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham Making Headway Into List of Top 10 Tight Ends in NFL History (Photos)

When Tony Gonzalez reeled in his 100th career touchdown catch Sunday, the feat was notable for several reasons, one of the biggest being how inevitable it seemed. Gonzalez has been dominating the NFL from the tight end position for more than a decade now, and it makes sense that he’d not only cross the 100-touchdown barrier but also put himself alongside just five others on the...

Darren Sproles Resumes Practicing

Running back Darren Sproles (hand surgery) has resumed practicing Wednesday, according to Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Fantasy Spin: Interim coach Joe Vitt noted that Sproles looked good in full pads, and is on track to return to action this weekend vs. Oakland, barring a setback. If officially given the green light, he is worth plugging into fantasy lineups as...

NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Ten

IT WASN’T THE longest touchdown run in New Orleans Saints history, but Chris Ivory’s 56-yard ramble against Atlanta on Sunday is being labeled one of the greatest ever witnessed in the Big Easy.

Saints-Raiders Preview

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints have climbed their way back into contention after stumbling through a winless September. While the Saints figure to go as far as Brees can take them, a sustained boost from their ground game could prove crucial down the stretch. Looking to continue its recent domination in November, New Orleans tries for a season-best third consecutive win...
