Found December 21, 2012 on Fox Sports South:
Although safety William Moore did not practice all week making it three weeks since he last practiced or played in a game the Falcons ruled him questionable for Saturdays game at Detroit when the team issued its status report for injured players on Friday. Moore injured his hamstring in Nov. 29s game against New Orleans and has missed the last two games. He had two interceptions in that Saints game and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. The Falcons also listed five other players as questionable: defensive end Cliff Matthews, who, like Moore, did not practice at this week with a hamstring injury, defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux (ribs), right tackle Tyson Clabo (thigh), cornerback Christopher Owens (hamstring) and wide receiver Roddy White (knee). White played through the same injury last week and has never missed a game in his career and others seems to have a good chances of playing, as well. Wide receiver Harry Douglas (ribs), the only other players on the injury report, fully participated in practice on Thursday and is listed as probable. Douglas played through last weeks game with that injury. If the Falcons (12-2) win against the Lions (4-10), they will secure home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. With two games left and the Falcons nearest pursuers Green Bay and San Francisco -- having to win out to have any chance of catching them, home-field advantage seems a strong likelihood. The Lions have been one of the leagues major disappointments this season; a year ago they made the playoffs but this season their overall record ties them for the worst mark in the NFC. As a result, its possible the Falcons would resist playing Moore as they did with cornerback Asante Samuel in Dec. 9s 30-20 loss to Carolina in the hope of having him back at full strength for the playoffs. Moore has been one of the Falcons top performers on defense this season, ranking first in tackles with 105 total and second in interceptions with four. Moore appears to be on the mend, as he did some light running on Tuesday with the teams athletic performance staff, but head coach Mike Smith refused to offer a prediction on his chances of playing on Saturday. In his place last week, Chris Hope and Dominique Franks performed ably. Meanwhile, the Lions, losers of six straight, appeared as if they will be further depleted coming off a arguably their worst loss of the season, a 38-10 defeat against Arizona, which had lost nine straight. Earlier in the week, the Lions placed defensive tackle Nick Fairley, the former Auburn Tiger, on injured reserve, ending his season. In addition, a story on the Lions Web site from Thursday speculated that starting tight end Brandon Pettigrew would miss the game. Safety Louis Delmas returned to practice on Thursday, improving the chances that he will play.

Falcons determined to avoid letdown against Lions

Thursday was an ugly, rainy day at Atlanta's practice facility - a perfect setting for the Falcons to be reminded they can make sure they don't play another game outdoors this season. That's added motivation to avoid a letdown in Saturday night's game at Detroit's Ford Field. The Falcons can secure home-field advantage through the NFC playoffs by beating the...

GIF: Julio Jones hauls in TD with great footwork in back of end zone

Tweet   The Atlanta Falcons gave up quite a few draft picks in an effort to select Julio Jones and so far he’s proving to be worth it. Atlanta Falcons: Week 16 NFL Power Rankings (#3)

Last week: 4 (+1) Record: 12-2 Net points per drive: 0.71 (4th) DVOA: 11.7% (9th) Weighted DVOA: 7.3% (12th) Atlanta finally got that one signature win last week, blowing out the Giants, even though the Giants might not even make the playoffs now. You can question their talent all you want and I think they might be the least talented of the top-5 teams, but their home field advantage...

Top Ten Falcons of 2012

The Falcons are sitting pretty at 12-2. Tonight, they look at the Lions for a chance to hit 13-2. During the preseason I thought this team was good enough to be a contender this year but I wasn't sure how good our new identities would look on offense and defense. To my surprise, the Falcons look damn good. This week I want to give you my favorite players of the season...

Falcons attempt to clinch top seed in the NFC with a win tonight

Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions: Week 16 NFL Pick

Atlanta Falcons (12-2) Detroit Lions (4-10) Normally I like going against huge line movements because I hate week to week overreactions. This line was Atlanta -1 last week and now it’s at -4.5, skipping over two key numbers of 3 and 4. At first glance, this appears warranted. The Lions got blown out by the crappy Cardinals in Arizona, losing 38-10, while the Falcons got a huge...
