Week 1 of the NFL is in full swing and numerous amounts of hamburgers, hot dogs, and hot wings were consumed this weekend washed down with gallons and gallons of beer all over America! But nobody has had a tailgating experience quite like the one the fans of the Washington Redskins are getting as they tailgate for tonight’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles at FedEx Field. Floyd Rich of Landover, Maryland, who has been tailgating outside of FedEx Field since 6 am, decided he was going to bring a live pig to tailgate with the rest of the Redskins faithful as an homage to the famed offensive line of the 80′s nicknamed “The Hogs.” Named Miss Charlotte, the pig weighs anywhere between 800 and 1,000 lbs and eats mainly fruits and vegetables. “We wanted to do something different.  It was something different and unique, and we wanted to promote it as a Redskins mascot, for the Hogs.” Floyd Rich on why he brought a pig to tailgate at FedEx Field The Hogs, anchored by center Jeff Bostic, included Russ Grimm, Mark May, Joe Jacoby, and George Starke and were an integral part of the Redskin’s Super Bowl winning teams in 1983, 1988, and 1992.
