The vast majority of things at your typical garage or yard sale is junk. But, one lucky Carolina Panthers fan came across some items earmarked for the dumpster that were far from garbage to a die-hard fan.

Matt Rowell, a 26-year-old from North Carolina, found a Carolina Panthers playbook from Super Bowl XXXVIII when the Panthers lost on a last-minute field goal by Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri. In addition to the playbook, Rowell told NewsChannel 36 he found sensitive financial information from star players -- as well as former Panthers defensive tackle Kris Jenkins' size 16 cleats.

Rowell, fearing that the playbook could fall into the wrong hands, called the Panthers and returned it after a week.

"I enjoyed it for a week. I was like, you know what, this really belongs more to the fans than it does to me or for me selling it, because if I were to sell it on Craigslist or eBay or wherever, then that person may then sell it to the Falcons or to the Saints," Rowell said. "It's just stuff that you can't, as a die-hard fan you just can't do that."

Rowell kept the Kris Jenkins cleats as well as Jenkins' 2004 Super Bowl locker nameplate and a Pro Bowl playbook he discovered.

There is no word on how the Panthers responded to Rowell returning the playbook.

Kendall Wright to the Carolina Panthers?

The Carolina Panthers clearly need to upgrade their receiving corps, but to what lengths will they go to surround Cam Newton with more talent? Justin Blackmon would be an obvious choice if he were on the board, but it seems unlikely that he would slip past the Rams, Redskins and Jaguars. That leaves the Panthers with two options if they wish to address this need in the 1st round...
