Free agency is awesome. I love looking at a list of impending free agents and trying to figure out where they’re going to end up. Earlier this week, Member Corner writer Kevin Merlet gave you some best and worst case free agency scenarios. Continuing that thought, I want to take a look at two key fantasy contributors from the last five years whose values appear to be heading in opposite directions. Michael Turner, RB FA It was mere hours after the Falcons’ loss to the 49ers that rumors were spreading that Michael Turner had played his last down as a Falcon. Once his cap number went from $5.5 million to $6.9 million after hitting escalators, it was pretty much “when,” not “if” he was going to be cut. Turner looked gassed last year and has too many miles on the ol’ tires. He averaged just 3.6 yards per carry while rushing for just 803 yards, but he did score ten touchdowns. During his five year tenure in Atlanta, he scored 60 rushing touchdowns (the most over that span by any running ...

Falcons Don't Use Franchise Tag

The deadline for using the franchise tag has come and gone. Eight NFL teams used the franchise tag but unlike last year when we tagged Brent Grimes, the Falcons did not use the tag this season. The most likely candidate for the franchise tag was safety William Moore. The Buffalo Bills tagged safety Jarius Byrd for $6.916 million. That's the price tag that would have...

Well, this is interesting to say the least. The word from the New York Daily Press is that the Jets will trade all-pro Derrelle Revis. How does this affect the Atlanta Falcons?      Well, it would appear that the top two trade partners are the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49rs. Both of these teams have expressed interest to the Jets, and the trade...

Falcons Sign RB Antone Smith To A 2-Year Contract

The Atlanta Falcons have signed a running back. No, it’s not the type of big name you were hoping for (although that could come in free agency or the draft). The Falcons just announced they have signed restricted free agent Antone Smith to a two-year contract. But don’t look for the commitment to Smith to suddenly make him into a factor in the backfield. He has one career...

Falcons Resign Antone Smith

The Falcons made their first roster move since they cut ties with the trio of Dunta Robinson, John Abraham and Michael Turner as they resigned restricted free agent Antone Smith. {gallery}myfolder{/gallery}   Smith is a 5'9", 190 pound running back that mainly plays on special teams. Not exactly a sexy signing but it is nice to see a familiar name inked to return...
