The New York Jets tout their offense as Ground and Pound, however this season it’s resembled more Ground and Plod. Could there be changes coming as the Jets move away from RB Shonn Green and and handing the ball more to Bilal Powell? The Jets are averaging less than 100 yards on the ground per game while Greene’s play has been unremarkable.
Green has averaged just 2.1 yards per carry on the ground in his last two games and has totaled just 2.8 yards per carry for the season. He has totaled 57 carries so far in the regular season but less than 10% (5) of his carries have resulted in first downs. In comparison, New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley has carried the ball 52 times and 18 of those carries have resulted in first downs.
Enter second-year Louisville running back, Bilal Powell. Powell has shown a little burst in limited action so far this season, averaging 4.1 yards per carry. He has produced five first downs in just 22 carries for the Jets so far. He has also averaged 13.3 y...

Mark Sanchez was mostly miserable in Miami. Tim Tebow was ineffective despite getting more snaps than he had in the New York Jets' first two games.
Sanchez has shown a knack for coming through late in games - as he did late in the Jets' 23-20 overtime victory over the Dolphins last Sunday. But in a few situations that appeared perfect for Tebow, the playmaking backup remained...
The best player on the Jets is out for the year and the Jets are headed South in the standings. And the Patriots battle with the hot Bills.
On the Monday following the previous day’s overtime victory over the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets announced that cornerback Darrelle Revis would likely miss the entire season due to a torn right ACL injury. Revis apparently suffered the injury attempting to make a tackle on a receiver. Losing Revis certainly removes a propensity of fear towards the Jets defense, with opposing...
With New York's No. 24 likely on the shelf until the 2013 NFL season, linebacker Calvin Pace is looking forward, not back.
It's not often that we comment on the defensive side of the ball but the season ending ACL injury to Darrelle Revis will have far-reaching fantasy impact especially for the passing games in the AFC East. Phillip Rivers owners should also rejoice as the Chargers face the Jets in the all important Championship week 16.
The New York Jets' multifaceted offense has the full attention of 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
When the 49ers slogged onto the rain-soaked field at Youngstown State University, they were working on ways to contain Mark Sanchez and the Jets' regular offense while remaining aware of the challenge that backup Tim Tebow may present.
Having linebacker Patrick Willis...
In the days leading up to last Sunday’s tilt between the Jets and Dolphins, Rex Ryan raised a few eyebrows — even more than usual — when he stated the team needed to put some “hot sauce” on Miami running back Reggie Bush.
Nothing really was made of it, though Ryan seemingly accomplished his goal, as his defense turned up the Tabasco and knocked Bush out of action during...
NinersDigest’s Craig Massei and the GreenandWhiteReport’s Rick Laughland go Behind Enemy Lines to break down Sunday’s game in between the 49ers and New York Jets. Do the Niners have a chip on their shoulder after last week’s stunning loss? How do the 49ers plan to exploit the loss of All-Pro CB Darrelle Revis, and will they be ready for a dose of Tim Tebow? These Q&As and more inside.
In their first season with Gang Green, safeties Yeremiah Bell and LaRon Landry are transforming the Jets defensive backfield into one of the league's most vaunted units.
