Colin Kaepernick, QB, San Francisco 49ers
FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS
One of the biggest, if not best surprises in all of fantasy football last year was sophomore quarterback Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers. Kaepernick played for the college of Nevada which allowed him to go under the radar for the most part. Backing up what looked like a mainstay in Alex Smith also further hid this kids talents, making the waiver wire a common place to find Kaepernick in virtually 100% of all fantasy leagues for the most part of 2012. Things changed by week 10 though when he had to replace Smith because of an injury suffered against the St. Louis Rams.
For the next seven weeks of the regular season and then another three playoff games, Kaepernick became not only a household name, but someone who all fantasy footballers in keeper and dynasty leagues were clamoring over to gain his services.

Colin Kaepernick has nothing but nice things to say about fellow quarterback Alex Smith as he allegedly prepares to enter the starting lineup for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Randy Moss‘ tenure with the San Francisco 49ers may be short-lived.
Pro Football Talk reported Saturday that the 49ers made it clear at the Combine that they were not intending to bring back Moss next season.
Moss seemed to be disappointed with his lack of playing time, even though he didn’t vocally complain most of the season. Moss said in January that he wants to play another...
RIGHT BACK AT YA
Things Terrell Suggs says continue to be a hot topic of conversation, as 49ers tackle Anthony Davis took to Twitter to respond to comments the Ravens linebacker made about him.
The San Fransisco 49ers are not inclined to pursue CB Darrelle Revis at this time according to ESPN’s Chris Mortenson.
This contradicts much of the talk from Wednesday – and this offseason – that suggested San Francisco would be the eventual landing spot for Revis.
San Francisco worked out a trade of Alex Smith with Kansas City on Wednesday. That transaction and others have...
According to ProFootballTalk.com, the San Francisco 49ers were making it clear at the NFL Scouting Combine that they don’t plan on bringing back wide receiver Randy Moss for next season.
This isn’t a surprise at all. Moss made it clear that he wasn’t happy with his role with the 49ers last season and let’s be honest, he’s not the player he once was.

49ers receiver Randy Moss is about to hit the free agent market. He’ll be looking for a team this offseason to give him that “straight cash, homie.” But the Niners likely aren’t going to be that team.
It looks like both sides don’t really want to be homies anymore.
Here was Moss on Twitter Saturday afternoon:
Wished we could’ve finished the job!!thanks for the opportunity...
The San Francisco 49ers made it to the NFC Championship Game and made it to the Super Bowl in the first two years of the Jim Harbaugh regime; and they are looking to take the next step in year three—win the Super Bowl. However, history is not on their side. The last franchise to go on to win the Super Bowl after losing in it the previous year was the 1972 Miami Dolphins—Mercury...
When assessing the Kansas City Chiefs' acquisition of Alex Smith, let's start with what he is not:
He's not an aging and injured Joe Montana. Smith is not a stiff and mediocre Steve Bono. Smith shouldn't be compared to an unproven Elvis Grbac or an unworthy Matt Cassel. Let's don't even analogize Smith to Trent Green, who was 31 years old when he arrived...
Reduced to a role player last season, Randy Moss still made it to a Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers but if the team returns to the game's biggest stage next season, the wide receiver isn't likely to join them.
A league source told ProFootballTalk that 49ers personnel made it clear at last week's NFL Scouting Combine that Moss won't be back in San Francisco...
The Dashon Goldson rumor mill has focused primarily on whether or not the 49ers would franchise their star free safety. The Buffalo News is reporting that Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson has been making a sales pitch to Goldson, Dwayne Bowe and Greg Jennings.
Johnson is a San Francisco native and he apparently had some time to chat with Goldson on Thursday:
"I just asked...
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that free agent defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins will meet with the 49ers on Tuesday.Former Eagles DL Cullen Jenkins, who visited Giants on Friday, is scheduled to visit Seahawks on Monday and 49ers on Tuesday.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 2, 2013Jenkins is said to be drawing interest from six teams. He has already met with the Giants...
The date is still unknown, but a Round 2 showdown with the 49ers' Colin Kaepernick awaits the Green Bay Packers next season. As if that meeting won't produce enough read-option offense for Green Bay's coaching staff to think about, the Packers will also have to deal with Robert Griffin III, assuming the Washington Redskins' star quarterback is recovered in time from...
Alex Smith’s career is a lot like that of Kiefer Sutherland’s, better known as Jack Bauer from “24,” the greatest TV show ever. It’s a very obscure comparison, I know, but let me explain. Both endured some early career struggles and could not catch a break, whether it was not getting lead roles in memorable movies/shows for Sutherland or playing for four different head...
Pro Football Talk cites a source saying that the San Francisco
49ers made it clear at the NFL Scouting Combine that they will
âsteer clearâ of the veteran
receiver and do not expect to re-sign him for the 2013 season.
