Oakland Raiders @ Atlanta FalconsOakland: The Raiders come off their bye with more questions than answers at this point in the season. What team are the Raiders trying to be? Are they a passing team under Carson Palmer, or a running team led by Darren McFadden? No matter what the answer is, they haven’t done either particularly well, which is the crux of the issue. The Raiders are 1-3, with their only win coming in Week 3 against the Steelers, and even then they needed a furious 4th quarter comeback to stun Pittsburgh, which hasn’t shown to be particularly good this year anyhow. Even though the Raiders rank a healthy 12th in passing offense in terms of yards per game, Palmer has only thrown 5 TDs against 7 INTs so far this season. It’s not like McFadden and the running game are helping; they’re dead last in yards per game, with half their season total in yards coming in that game against the Steelers. This doesn’t bode well for the Raiders, going against a Falcons defense that h...
BEST OF MAXIM
Even though it’s very likely that Oakland Raiders linebacker Aaron Curry will be activated from the PUP list next week, the Raiders aren’t sure what kind of impact he’ll make on defense. The Raiders certainly could use help on defense. We hear they just do not know if LB Aaron Curry, who is eligible to return to practice next week, will provide it, though. Curry has been on...
Coming off of what will be a key bye week, the Oakland Raiders travel to Atlanta to face off against one of the NFL’s two remaining unbeaten teams. On paper, this matchup is one of the worst that the Raiders can come up against. However, that is just why this game is played on the field, where anything is possible. [...]
The Atlanta Falcons are off to a 6-0 start in 2012. After squeezing out another last second win against the Oakland Raiders the Falcons will head into their bye week with the best record in the NFL. Contrary to my preseason prediction that Atlanta wouldn’t even make the playoffs, the Falcons appear to be a team on a mission; possibly a team of destiny.Matt Ryan has had tremendous...
Prediction And Preview: Raiders (1-3) @ Falcons (5-0) -
Off to the best start in team history, the Atlanta Falcons have tried not to make too much of their early accomplishments. Based on the way the Oakland Raiders have played this season, the Falcons appear to have a good chance to continue that success. Looking to remain the NFC’s lone undefeated team, the Falcons can help coach...
Typically these previews consist of two parts, the first detailing how the Falcons upcoming opponent could beat them, and the second consisting of what the Falcons can do to counter that. But this week, I just couldn’t really find enough material to write up how the Oakland Raiders could beat the Falcons this week. Not to say it’s not possible, but it really is just a repeat...
Five games into his 16th NFL season, Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez feels reborn on the football field.
It's not so much that Gonzalez leads the league with 39 catches. When the year began, Gonzalez was already the NFL's No. 2-career leading receiver.
What's making this season special for Gonzalez is the versatility of Atlanta's offense. With quarterback...
Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez Just One TD Catch Away From #100 - In his remarkable career, Gonzalez has caught ten or more touchdowns in the three seasons. He has 23 touchdowns with the Falcons and 76 with the Chiefs, and interestingly has caught as many touchdowns from Elvis Grbac as he has from Matt Ryan (23). Dallas is the only NFL team Gonzalez has not scored on. He’ll get another...
Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters, who appeared pretty spry while jumping rope with children at a community function Tuesday, hopes that he can return quickly as his six-week stint on the reserve/non-football injury list is about to end. Peters suffered a stress fracture while working out before the Falcons' offseason training program started. "It was a little...
Sometimes you need a little bit of luck in the National Football League and it appears that Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas has that luck. Watch as Douglas catches this Matt Ryan pass that deflects off the helmet of Oakland Raiders Joselio Hanson's helmet: (Courtesy of Cosby Sweaters)
Jerry Jones is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys and since he owns ‘America’s team’, Jerry is ‘America’s owner’ as the boss of the franchise. However Jerry Jones is starting to become known as the new Al Davis of the NFL with seemingly too hands of an approach. The late Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis was famous for having a successful football team that won three Super...
ATLANTA Tony Gonzalez has been in Willie Smith's shoes, and he's glad those days are over.
No more watching game film to figure out how to slow down the NFL's active sack leader. No more John Abraham-induced nightmares off the edge. After all, Abraham, one of the league's premier sack specialists, is now Gonzalez's teammate on the undefeated Falcons.
Your 2012 Atlanta Falcons have perfected something my Fantasy Football team has never done before: winning while playing poorly. The Falcons needed a fumble recovery brought back to the two yard line, a defensive touchdown and three sacks by John Abraham to overcome an ineffective offense and arm-tackling defense in the 23-20 win over the Raiders.
Ray Edwards finally making...
ATLANTA – Matt Bryant's 55-yard field goal with one second to play capped another dramatic comeback in the Georgia Dome and kept the Falcons unbeaten heading into their bye week with a 23-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who was picked off three times in the first half, authored another game-winning drive, just two weeks after doing the...
The Oakland Raiders gave the Atlanta Falcons all they wanted for 59:59 on Sunday while Brady Quinn and the Kansas City Chiefs got throttled in Tampa.
