Michael Vick is a lost cause and you should trade him now before he is completely worthless. Fantasy. The game against the Cardinals was hard to watch. Like, Paris Hilton reality TV hard to watch.  But, don’t give up all hope just yet. The Cardinals defense is the real deal, and it is often said that traveling to the west coast can make it much more difficult to win a game. Unlike Paris Hilton, Michael Vick has some redeeming qualities, like his ability to be a fantasy stud. Like he was in week two against a formidable Baltimore Ravens Defense, when he threw for 371 yards and a touchdown and tacked on a running touchdown. It is important to keep in mind that from a fantasy perspective Vick has not performed that poorly this season. Yes, 6 picks in the first two games was a lot and the Cardinals game was rough. But despite poor play in the first two weeks, Vick found a way to score a respectable amount of points in those games. Vick is clearly no longer as consistent as he was after his re-emergence two years ago, and the game against the Cardinals has proven just how risky he can be. But, with great risk comes great opportunity for reward. There are few QBs in the NFL that can put up points like Vick can on a really good day. The Eagles have the talent around him; they just need to figure out how to use it before the final four games of the season. If they can do that, Vick will be someone you don’t want to see when you look across the box score each week. Vick is risky, but maybe that isn’t such a bad thing. So, what can you do about Vick? Minimize your risk by: 1) Having a solid backup QB. Vick is injury prone, so having a serviceable backup is very important. The good news is that he typically finishes the season. And what matters most in fantasy football, is how you finish. Additionally, most people typically don’t value their backup qb that highly, so if you don’t have a good backup you should be able to get one without giving up too much. 3) Hedging your bets and starting the defense he is playing against. This isn’t the easiest thing to do, especially if you have a solid defense you already use. Also, I wouldn’t do it if he is playing a team with a notoriously bad defense. However, there is some comfort in knowing that if Vick throws a pick there’s no net negative effect to your score. Furthermore, the Cardinals and Browns defenses both scored very well against Vick so far this year.   Matt Ryan is an elite fantasy QB Reality. The Falcons offense is intimidating (even though Julio cut his dreads) and it’s because they have the best tandem of starting receivers in the NFL. Ryan is currently leading the NFL in QB rating (112.1) and is 2nd in passing touchdowns (11).  Michael Turner and the run game are being phased out and Ryan is king of the playground that is the Falcons offense. In addition, Ryan has a great schedule. Three of the Falcons remaining games are against the Panthers or the Saints. Two defenses that have struggled this year and Ryan has had immense success against in the past. I’m particularly excited about Ryan’s potential against New Orleans and I fully expect Julio Jones to break at least twenty “tackles” in each game against the Saints. Now here is a guy that knows how to point.

Philadelphia Eagles take down rival Giants

On the night when former Eagle Brian Dawkins was honored, the Philadelphia Eagles took down the arch rival Giants, 19-17 behind a strong defensive effort. The Eagles bounced back after an embarrassing loss to Arizona last week, which shows the true heart and determination of this team. What is more impressive is that the Eagles have won all three of their games by scoring on their...

How Michael Vick ran through $29 million

Tuesday night on ESPN, their 30for30 series resumes with the first episode entitled “Broke,” which details the stories of several professional athletes that lost the millions made in their playing days. For NFL players 3 years after playing, 78% end up broke. So it comes as no surprise to hear Eagles QB Michael Vick blew [...]

Michael Vick has a knee contusion

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid confirmed that quarterback Michael Vick suffered a knee contusion during Sunday night’s win over the Giants.  He says Vick will be fine. I’m sure Vick will play in this week’s game against the Steelers. But we’ll certainly be monitoring his status throughout the week.

Michael Vick says he “tweaked” his knee; hopes to play next week

Michael Vick is always tweaking something, but somehow, someway the Eagles are 3-1 and leading the NFC East. Most people worry about Vick getting injured taking a BIG HIT, but this time it was a non contact injury that will have him in the trainer’s room according to Pro Football Talk. “Something happened with my knee on the last drive,” Vick told reporters after the game...

Tomlin wanted to sign Vick?

With the Eagles and Steelers getting set to play, an interesting nugget about Mike Tomlin wanting to sign Mike Vick has been reported.

Falcons remain undefeated in win

Matt Bryant kicked a 40-yard field goal with 5 seconds remaining and the Atlanta Falcons remained unbeaten, rallying past the Carolina Panthers 30-28 on Sunday. The Falcons (4-0) are off to their best start since 2004, when they reached the NFC championship game. Despite taking a career-high seven sacks, Matt Ryan threw three touchdown passes for Atlanta. Bryant added three field...

Eagles 19, Giants 17

PHILADELPHIA -- Quarterback Michael Vick led Philadelphia on a fourth-quarter scoring drive and the Eagles held on to beat the New York Giants 19-17 on Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field after Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes missed a 54-yard field goal attempt with 10 seconds left to play. Vick, who threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver DeSean Jackson in the second...

Resurgent Eagles are top six in offense, defense

Three close wins suggest the Philadelphia Eagles could be 0-4 instead of 1-3. The statistics, though, say they should be dominating opponents instead of barely squeaking past them. At the quarter point of the of the NFL season, the NFC East-leading Eagles are the only team with both their offense and defense ranked in the top six. They're fifth in offense, averaging 417.8 yards...

Atlanta Falcons Perched Comfortably Atop The NFC South

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is delivering on his potential this season. I’m still reeling from the amazing finish to the Falcons/Panthers game on Sunday. With mere seconds left and all the way at their own 2 yard line, the Falcons, or shall I say Matt Ryan and Roddy White with a little help from Matt Bryant’s leg, pulled off the kind of thing that makes last year’s non...

The Fantasy Football Chameleon – Week 5 For 2012 Fantasy Football

As we all dwell on leaving Brian Hartline on our bench or Waiver Wire, let us not forget that he was playing with a rookie QB against a defense that had shut down Tom Brady and Michael Vick in back to back weeks. Let us also not forget that going into Sunday, Hartline had only made more than 5 receptions in a game once in his 3-year career. And finally, let us not forget to get an...

New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Hero and Zero of the Game

Hero: Though it was tough to see many positives in this game with both teams making mental mistakes late on both sides of the ball, LeSean McCoy did enough to be the player of the game for Philly.Michael Vick was much more efficient in this game by not turning the ball over, but did not come up with many big plays against the Giants' defense. The elusive “Shady” McCoy allowed...

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins: This should be an interesting game. Is Miami better than we thought or can Cincy handle their business? Well either way you should use Andy Dalton here.

Falcons are 4-0 After Shocking Panthers With Last Minute Drive

Despite being 1-2 and coming off of a lackluster performance, the Carolina Panthers came to the Georgia Dome on Sunday afternoon ready to play some football. The Falcons found themselves backed up on their one yard-line and down two points with 59 seconds left and no timeouts. Only an elite quarterback would be able to navigate his team out of a hole like this. Ryan launched a bomb...

One Man's Opinion: NFL Power Rankings After Week 4

(NOTE: Rankings are considered by wins and losses, margins of victory and defeat, quality of opposition, and recent record trends)1. Houston (4-0) (Last week: 1)They’ve never been 4-0 in franchise history, so it should come as no surprise that this is the earliest in any of 11 seasons that Houston has had 4 wins; the previous mark was in 2010, when the Texans were 4-2 on October...
