San Antonio Jay graduate Sammy Morris continued to get the bulk of reps at tailback in practice as Felix Jones missed a second straight workout Wednesday with a hamstring injury.
“He did not practice,” Jason Garrett said of Jones. “He was involved in meetings and everything but did not participate in our on the field work.”
Garrett is optimistic that Jones will play in Saturday’s game against the Eagles.
“We are hopeful,” Garrett said. “It seems like he is getting better. We felt like it was the right thing to do today – not practice him. And we are hopeful he can get some work done in the next couple of games.”
With Jones replacing DeMarco Murray as the lead back after the rookie broke an ankle two weeks ago against the Giants, Garrett didn’t have to change his approach to calling running plays the last two games. But that probably won’t be the case if Morris is the starter.
