With Allen Rossum out 2-4 weeks with a hamstring injury, Felix Jones will be the Cowboys' main kick returner but coach Wade Phillips said Wednesday they will look at some other possible returners.
Jones wants the job. He is averaging 23 yards per return on eight tries this season.
"I guess it's my time to step up," Jones said. "Hopefully we don't have to do it too many times but I'm ready when my time's called."
But is it wise to expose Jones to the bigger hits on kick returns when he's shown he's susceptible to injury in his two seasons?
"Hey, ain't no way around that," Jones said. "This is a physical game. You can get hurt walking a straight line. It's just playing football. There's no way around not getting hurt."
Jones said he will continue to wear the brace on his knee but he came out of Sunday's game vs. Atlanta feeling fine.
