Leslie Frazier wasn't breaking from his plan for the Minnesota Vikings' first-team offense in last week's first preseason game despite an early interception. Frazier stuck with the decision to only play the starters one series. Two plays and quarterback Christian Ponder and the starting offense sat down for the night. The next two games, knowing few starters will likely play in the fourth preseason game, are big for Ponder, his new receivers, and the first-team offense. "We want to gel," offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said. "We want to get a rapport with one another, our comfort level, our rhythm and we are doing that at practice but it is different in the game. We will keep working in that direction so we can be real good by Detroit. That's the whole game, get to Detroit healthy and in rhythm." The importance in preseason games this year brings added significance with Ponder needing to establish cohesiveness with receiver Greg Jennings, s...

Peterson likes PED accusations?

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says accusations that he uses performance-enhancing drugs don't bother him, instead viewing them as compliments.

Vikings like Stephen Burton's versatility at WR position

The biggest play of the Minnesota Vikings first preseason game was a 61-yard touchdown that brought undrafted rookie Zach Line immediate attention in his longshot attempt at a roster spot. Line broke the initial tackle on a short outlet pass from quarterback Matt Cassel. Yet, one of the most important aspects of the play for Minnesota's coaches was how Line was led down the...

Vikings' Felton has appendectomy

Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl fullback Jerome Felton will miss Friday's exhibition game against Buffalo, and perhaps the rest of the preseason, after having an emergency appendectomy. The Vikings announced the surgery Wednesday night, not long after holding their last practice of training camp at Minnesota State, Mankato. Felton was integral in Adrian Peterson's 2,000-yard...

Adrian Peterson likes when people accuse him of using PEDs

While some athletes get angry or defensive when accused of using performance enhancing drugs, Adrian Peterson takes it as a compliment (Credit: AP Photo) Last season, Adrian Peterson showed the world that there is a possibility he is super human. Less than a year after tearing his ACL and MCL, Peterson not only started all sixteen games but nearly broke the single season rushing...

Vikings will give No. 1s more run against Buffalo

In many ways, the action really begins for the Minnesota Vikings this week in Buffalo for the season's second preseason game. Last week at home, Minnesota held out several defensive starters and the starting offense played only two plays. This week, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said the starters should play into the second quarter as he looks to get a better idea of the players...

With the welcome demolition of the Hubert H. Adrian Peterson thinks NCAA should pay players

Adrian Peterson believes Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel and other college football players should be able to get paid. As the NCAA continues to investigate if Manziel got paid to sign autographs and memorabilia for dealers, Peterson spoke out about the hypocrisy of the situation and if he believes amateur athletes should be allowed to profit off their name. I think so,...

Donovan McNabb says Robert Griffin III is ‘getting brainwashed’ by Redskins

If anyone thought that Donovan McNabb would stand idly by and not feel compelled to provide an unnecessary retort to comments Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III made during a GQ interview that were made public on Tuesday, well, they’d be sorely mistaken. In the GQ profile, RG3 reacted to how the former NFL (and […]The post Donovan McNabb says Robert Griffin III...

Adrian Peterson Sides With Johnny Manziel, Says College Players Should Be Allowed to Profit From Autographs

The “pay-for-play” debate has raged on as intensely as ever this summer, but the question of whether or not universities should pay their student-athletes has taken a back seat. Instead, much of the talk has centered around an athlete’s rights to his or her own name or likeness, with Johnny Manziel‘s autograph scandal standing at the forefront. On Thursday, reigning NFL MVP...

Cool weather welcomed by players, not coaches

The Vikings have had an unseasonably cool training camp, which isn’t exactly what coach Leslie Frazier was looking for. Veterans like Kevin Williams, who said the best part of camp is the conclusion, don’t mind the temperatures.
