The trend toward receiving tight ends not only makes game sense, it also makes business sense. TEs cost half (or less) of what WRs cost. When a team can get a guy who is a physical mismatch at half the price of play-making WR, what’s not to like about the guy?
Jermaine Gresham: signed through 2014
Gresham is a microcosm of the teams’ offense. Inconsistent. Laden with potential. Under-performing. MIA at times. He ought to dominate the middle of the field with his size, but his hands stop that from happening. He will make a fantastically tough catch on one play only to drop an easy catch on the next. The team will stick with Gresham as the lead TE through the off-season and well into the regular season. If he does not show clear signs of progression by the midpoint of the season, they ought to begin relying more on Charles and think about moving on this time next year. But hopefully it doesn’t come to that. He needs to study guys like Tony Gonzalez, Heath Miller and Owen Daniels, and ...

Andy Dalton gets a lot of credit for the Bengals’ recent success. After all, a mere 2nd round pick rookie in 2011, Dalton took over a Bengals team that was 4-12 in 2010 and took them to the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time since 1981-1982. However, he doesn’t deserve nearly as much credit as this defense. Dalton has led this offense to 22.9 points per game in...

The Bengals appear to be open to the idea of drafting a quarterback to become Andy Dalton‘s backup next year as Bruce Gradkowski is set to become a free agent in the coming months.
“The Bengals figure to be in the market for a young quarterback with backup Bruce Gradkowski headed to free agency, but they aren’t looking to push Andy Dalton out of a job so they probably won’t...
Wanted to toss a quick post up for those who might have missed it: Despite there being a whopping eight head coaching vacancies filled around the NFL, none of said jobs went to Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden or defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.
This is absolutely huge because while I think Marvin Lewis is an average head coach at best, this is clearly the...
