Tony Romo played like an elite NFL quarterback on Sunday, completing 23 of 26 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Completing a club record 88.5 percent of his passes, Romo spread the ball around to seven different receivers, helping the Cowboys beat the Bills 44-7.But not even a day like that will allow Romo to think he is one of the elite quarterbacks in the league. After all, he stated before the game that the elite quarterbacks are the ones with the Super Bowl rings. Shannon Sharpe, a CBS NFL analyst, asked Romo during the pregame show if he thinks about being among the games best, naming quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Romo indirectly said that he didnt. When you talk about the elite quarterbacks, 99.9 percent of them have all won (a Super Bowl). And until you do, I dont think you do belong in that class because its that important, Romo said. Its what were judged by. Its how I judge others by. Its the way it should be.Romo is one of the most criticized players in the sport. He has recently been rated among the NFLs most disliked and most overrated players. So why is that?I think that people can see that maybe you have the ability to get the stuff done that it takes to win a Super Bowl, Romo said. When you havent done it yet then there has to be a reason why, and thats just part of growing and becoming the player you can be and winning. So what happens if Romo doesn't win a Super Bowl? He has been to multiple Pro Bowls and has helped the Cowboys win a lot more games than they have lost. Is winning the game's biggest prize the only thing that can determine if his career was a success?Romo doesn't believe that to be the case, saying "I don't think you can define it black and white."The quarterback position probably gets too much of the blame and too much of the credit, really," Romo added. "But you need the pieces around you. And when you get them and you have that opportunity, if youre good enough youll go do it. And I think we will at some point.Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota
