No that’s not a typo in the headline. I know you think that because the NFL has no current players who’ve come out of the closet. And there’s a very low number of ex-players (and since we’re talking about ex-Niners, c’mon Jeff Garcia, quit living the lie, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being who you actually are) who are known to be gay that this must be an error. However, it appears ex-San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris, a former first-round draft pick, has involuntarily been added to the list as a result of the legal issues stemming from a restaurant dispute. According to the San Mateo Daily Journal, a dispute over soy sauce at Su Hong restaurant in Menlo Park, Calif. last Aug. 21, has landed the former NFL player in court after he assaulted his ex-boyfriend. Harris pleaded not guilty to felony charges of domestic violence causing great bodily injury and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, the Daily Journal said. And this dispute allegedly started when Harris got upset at his friend, or boyfriend depending on who’s legal team you believe, Dimitri Geier, for pouring soy sauce on a plate of rice. Because as we all know, sushi restaurants are known to inspire fits of rage. According to the paper, the two argued for awhile after the vile and vicious soy sauce pouring. Harris then said he wouldn’t take Geier to the airport as he had promised. When the two went to get Geier’s belongings from Harris’ car, Harris accused Geier of stealing his underwear and tried pulling the man’s pants down. Then Harris beat him up.   Paul M.
