Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly revealed to the NFL world that he was diagnosed with cancer in his upper jaw two weeks ago. On Friday, he underwent surgery and according to all post-surgical reports, he is expected to have a full recovery. Buffalo’s Erie County Medical Center issued a statement regarding Kelly which stated, “The surgery went very well. We are hopeful for and anticipate a speedy recovery and successful outcome.” Kelly started his career in the now defunct USFL, playing for the Houston Gamblers for two seasons. He joined the Bills in 1986 and led one of the most prolific scoring offenses in the NFL during the 1990′s. He led the Bills to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances but failed to win the big game. During his NFL career, Kelly threw for over 35,000 yards and 247 touchdowns.
