GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It took longer than expected, but former Packers running back Ryan Grant has found a new NFL team. According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, Grant has signed a contract with the Washington Redskins.Grant worked out for the Chicago Bears on Tuesday, but it was while he was there that he agreed to terms with the Redskins.Washington's running back group became quite thin this week after its top two backups, Roy Helu (turf toe) and Evan Royster (knee), were injured on Sunday. Grant will likely become the No. 2 running option for the Redskins behind rookie Alfred Morris, who's had a solid start to his NFL career with three touchdowns and 263 yards rushing in three games.Grant, 29, who played in Green Bay from 2007 to 2011, rushed for 4,016 yards in those five seasons with 27 touchdowns. When Grant's contract with the Packers expired after last season, the team opted not to bring him back for another year and turned to younger options in James Starks and Alex Green. However, when Starks suffered a turf toe injury in the first preseason game and Green slowly worked his way back from a torn ACL, general manager Ted Thompson could have scheduled a reunion with Grant. But instead, the Packers signed Cedric Benson, who has taken over the starting running back position in Green Bay.Follow Paul Imig on Twitter
