Free agent safety Yeremiah Bell is visiting the New York Jets on Monday, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports. Bell was released by the Miami Dolphins on March 19. Though the Jets signed LaRon Landry last month, the two-time Pro Bowler has struggled with injuries the last two seasons and over half of his one-year contract is tied up in per game roster bonuses. Eric Smith is penciled in as the starting free safety and the Jets do not have much depth behind him and Landry. Bell would change that.

'For Whom the Bell Tolls'

The safety position was an adventure for the New York Jets in 2011. Jim Leonhard was lost for the season due to injury for the second time in as many years, while the combination of Brodney Pool and Eric Smith were victimized by opposing quarterbacks. Could free agent Yeremiah Bell help alleviate Gang Green's safety woes?

Report: Dolphins owner making a strong push for Ryan Tannehill

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is pushing hard to draft Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill. It’s believed that Ross wants to try to move on from a very embarrassing offseason in which they failed to sign Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn. The Dolphins have also taken a big hit by losing 30,000 season ticket holders. With...

Tim Tebow a Big Hit in Midland, Texas

Praise the lord T.. New York Jets QB Tim Tebow spoke to his disciples at Grande Communications Stadium on Sunday in Midland, Texas –  Some young people attending even got a chance to meet Tebow. “He just had an aura about him,” Talor Nunez said. ”He just seems like a really nice guy. He had a great handshake and he’s a pretty big guy too.” “He’s big,” Kaylee Rogers...

Revis won't rule out another holdout

Two years after a contentious holdout between Darrelle Revis and the New York Jets, the two sides might have to ready themselves for round two. Revis, appearing at a charity function in Manhattan on Monday, said he is unsure whether he will stay away from training camp this summer in hopes of renegotiating his deal. "I just don't know," Revis said. "I'm not...

Why NOT to believe that Stephen Ross is pushing for Dolphins to draft Tannehill

Let’s get this out of the way: The Miami Dolphins are going to draft a player in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft that they believe is the best asset to their organization.  I didn’t say it would be the right choice.  I didn’t even say it would be at the number 8 [...]

NFL Films: Tim Tebow is better than Earl Campbell and Marcus Allen

The NFL Network and NFL Films has done it again with one of their Top 10 lists. A few years ago, they made the decision to include both Syracuse and the MAC as football factories, while leaving Oklahoma and Texas off. Yesterday evening, they released their Top 10 list of Heisman Winners in the NFL [...]

Another Revis Island Vacation?

Cornerback Darrelle Revis opened the door to holding out on the New York Jets once again at a Monday night charity event in New York City.  When being honored by the Big Brothers Big Sisters NYC reporters asked Revis if he will be reporting to training camp this summer.  The New York Post quoted Revis' answers as "I just don't know. I'm not saying I am going...

QB Tim Tebow To Be Used On Jet's Punt Team

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets have told Tebow that they plan to use him on special teams as the punt protector. Source: The Redzone Attached Thumbnails

2012 NFL team needs - Miami Dolphins

Written by: Matthew BlunkAfter spending the previous offseason pursuing Stanford head coach (and eventual San Francisco 49ers head coach) Jim Harbaugh and leaving their own coach Tony Sparano out to dry, the Miami Dolphins opened up the 2011 season with seven consecutive losses. But they were a team with some fight in them. Sure, they weren't the most talented squad in football...

Merling Gone, Other Notes

It really was a big surprise that the Dolphins bothered extending a qualifying tender to restricted free agent Phillip Merling earlier in the offseason. It was, however, not surprising at all that they decided to waive him a couple of months later.

Another hold out for Revis?

Just two years ago, we saw Darrelle Revis hold out with the New York Jets play out to a 4-year deal worth $46 million. Revis considered at the time to be the best corner in the game and now it could argue that he is even better now. With training camp just about 3 1/2 [...]

Phillip Merling Released

Yesterday, I posted that Merling would be replaced, but that was a lucky guess and at least not until after the draft.Jeff Ireland has solidified that he is going to take a DE somewhere in the draft.  Could it be round 1?  It's possible with Fletcher Cox and Melvin Ingram on the board at 8.  I certainly don't discount the contribution of Phillip Merling during the 2008...
