Former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard will have back surgery this week, likely preventing him from signing with another team. Al Irby, Garrard's agent, Monday confirmed his client's surgery. Garrard, released five days before the season opener, let everyone know his situation Monday amid reports the Oakland Raiders would consider signing Garrard to replace injured starter Jason Campbell. Fox Sports first reported the surgery. Garrard wrote on his Twitter page he will have surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back. ''Thx for all the prayers,'' Garrard wrote. ''I will be having surgery on my herniated disc at some point this week. So that I can get back on the field.'' Garrard tweaked his back in training camp.
