IRVING, Texas After praising the job Rob Ryan has done with the Cowboys defense, Jason Garrett was asked Monday what kind of head coach his defensive coordinator would make.
It's no secret that Ryan would like to join his brother, Rex Ryan, in the NFL's head coaching ranks.
"I think Rob is just and outstanding coach," the Cowboys head coach said. "I just think he does so many things well. He relates to the players so well. He's a really good scheme coach. He's been around it his whole life. I think he would make an outstanding head coach."
Despite several significant injuries on the defensive side of the ball, the unit continues to play well. Injuries have caused Barry Church (6), Jay Ratliff (4) Sean Lissemore (4), Sean Lee (3), Kenyon Coleman (2), Anthony Spencer (2), Dan Connor (2), Mike Jenkins (2) and Gerald Sensabaugh (1) to miss a total of 26 games. But the Cowboys have managed to stay among the league's top 10 defenses, allowing 31...

@darrenrovell During today’s Cowboys – Eagles game, someone noticed that defensive coordinator Rob Ryan sold some ad space on his defensive play-calling sheet. As you can see from the above photo there’s a Pat’s Kings of Steaks logo on the back of his sheet. Would love to know how much they’re paying him. Pat’s Kings Of Steaks on Rob Ryan’s Play Chart twitter.com...
Florham Park, N.J.: Sometimes you have to know when to keep quiet.Rex Ryan stepped to the podium today and almost, repeat almost, didn't feed into answering questions about an article put out by the New York Daily News that said about a dozen players anonymously said Tim Tebow simply isn't good enough to start."First off, if a player doesn't put their name to something...
The Jets continue to reinvent rock bottom every week, and it certainly seems to be taking quite the toll on head coach Rex Ryan.
ESPN.com reports that Ryan actually broke down in tears following his team’s 28-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, at least according to some of his players.
“In his postgame address to the team,” ESPN.com’s Rich Cimini writes, “Ryan got...
The Dallas Cowboys are back in the playoff race even though they've had little to do with it. They were able to scratch out two wins during a five-game stretch that saw them play four of five games on the road.
It's not like they deserve to be in the thick of things with a 4-5 record, but that's exactly where they are thanks to the New York Giants losing two consecutive...
Some critics are calling it a fatal mistake but Rex Ryan isn't wavering in his support of the Jets starting quarterback.
Dallas Cowboys coach Rob Ryan sported a very cool "Pat’s Kings Of Steaks" ad on his play calling sheet yesterday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Darren Rovell tweeted that Rob does it for fun and...

Rex Ryan is no dummy, and so after he read off the Jets' injury report at his press conference Wednesday, he grinned at the reporters and into the glare of the television cameras crowded into the media room at the Jets' training facility. "Fire away, let's go," Ryan said. "Ask the questions you want to ask." An awkward silence ensued. "I...
Joe Caporoso - I hate to reiterate what most of our writers are saying but how could you not look forward to Rex Ryan’s defense versus Brian Schottenheimer’s offense? Without question a low point in a year full of them would be to watch Schottenheimer hang a 35 spot on Ryan. Considering how much crap Schotty took while he was here and how much pride Rex takes in his defense...
With Mike Holmgren on his way out as Cleveland Browns president, speculation has shifted to where the former Super Bowl champion coach will land next. One of those spots could be the Dallas Cowboys, should coach Jason Garrett be fired after the season. Holmgren has known owner Jerry Jones for many years. Holmgren attempted to quiet that talk Monday, telling the Cleveland media...
Really really bad news for Jason Garrett you’d think, but Jason LaCanfora is reporting that Holmgren could be a fit in Dallas.
Holmgren, who is finishing up a disappointing three-year run as the Browns’ team president, has said he would consider a return to coaching, where he already has a case for potential Hall of Fame induction. Some sources who know Holmgren well believe Dallas is...
The Seahawks easily defeated the Jets 28-7 yesterday and Rex Ryan must be envious of how Seattle wins games. The Hawks are using a strong running game, defense and timely passing to be in the hunt for a playoff spot. This is the same formula the Jets used in 2009 and 2010 to reach the AFC Championship game. However, things have gone awry for New York thanks to very...
