Throughout most of the season, there has been a lot of talk regarding the Giants signing wide receiver Victor Cruz to a long-term contract. Though, according to many league sources, the Giants are putting a bigger emphasis on signing wide receiver Hakeem Nicks to a long-term deal. Nicks, 25, still has one year remaining on his rookie contract. Knee and foot injuries hindered Nicks all season as he finished the year with 53 catches for 692 yards and three touchdowns. Cruz, 26, flourished once again this season. Over the past two seasons he has averaged 84 catches, 1,314 receiving yards and 9.5 touchdowns. With this being said, you would think it would be Cruz who is due for the long-term contract, but the Giants don’t believe that is the case. Lets examine the situation:  Nicks, when healthy, is the better player and the Giants view him as a more traditional No. 1 wide receiver.   • Giants offense works best when both are in the lineup and healthy. Nicks can work 'alone' better than Cruz, I hope they can keep both.
