Now that David Wilson is out of the Giants’ doghouse, he’s focusing on the bigger picture. Not to gain a few more carries each week or definitively earning the coaching staff’s trust, but quite literally the biggest picture possible. “I think at the end of my career, I’ll be in the Hall of Fame,” Wilson said, via NFL.com. “I know myself and I know (when) I have guys around me that feel the same way, which I feel I do. When I get my opportunity, the sky is not the limit. I think it’s past it. You have to believe in yourself to do good things. This is how I feel.” Yes, the same David Wilson who got emotional after losing a fumble in the season opener is now planning for his yellow jacket and a trip to Canton. Say this about the rookie running back: he has confidence. Too much confidence. While there’s little doubt he’s a special talent — the Giants did use a first-round pick on him — Wilson, he of 15 carries for 87 yards, needs to better prioritize his future. He’s currently third on the depth chart behind Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Brown, and another fumble or mishap will put him right back on coach Tom Coughlin’s you-know-what list. Like any first-year player, Wilson, a speedster who also returns kicks, needs to work his way up the depth chart and make a play or two before sizing up his own bust. Nevertheless, his vacant stat sheet and raw resume isn’t deterring the former Virginia Tech product — or should I say, ‘Yasmin.’ “I’m like birth control. You have to believe in me,” Wilson said. “Like birth control, 99.9 percent of the time I’m going to come through for you. “I never know when that opportunity is coming, and that’s why you have to stay prepared. But when I do get that opportunity, I’m going to get lost in the moment and keep it going. Once I get my chance to go out there and play football and do what I do, I’m not going to want to let go of that.”
