The New York Giants already started preparing to defend their Super Bowl title, just days after winning their second NFL title in five seasons. General manager Jerry Reese said Thursday he expects a strong core of players to return next year, but cautioned “there will definitely be some changes.” That’s no surprise considering 20 players are set to become unrestricted free agents in March. “There’s a lot of planning, a lot of discussion on guys and on salaries and where we can go and where we can’t go,” Reese said in a conference call. “It’s a lot of discussion to be had. But we’ll be ready.” Only four of New York’s starters will be free agents: tackle Kareem McKenzie, linebacker Chase Blackburn, cornerback Aaron Ross and punter Steve Weatherford. Wide receiver Mario Manningham, defensive end Dave Tollefson, defensive tackle Rocky Bernard, cornerback Terrell Thomas and safety Deon Grant are among the key players that could test free agency.

Kurt Warner Calls Eli Manning 'Extremely Inconsistent,' Says He's Not a Hall of Famer

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner put together an illustrious career during his 12 years with the Rams, Cardinals and Giants. In fact, his four Pro Bowls, two MVP awards and 1999 Super Bowl MVP might one day land him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Apparently, he doesn't feel Giants QB Eli Manning is worthy of that honor -- at least not yet. During an appearance Tuesday on...

Eli Manning is Super Bowl MVP?

I have had a few days to digest what happened last Sunday.  Being how I don’t like either team, I don’t care who won the Super Bowl.  Then after the game they announced the Super Bowl MVP, Eli Manning?  WHAT?!?!  Why was Eli Manning named the MVP of the Super Bowl?  Who is the person that decides this?  Did they give it to him because he is the quarterback...

According to Adam Schein of SiriusXM NFL Radio, cornerback Terrell Thomas wants to re-sign with the New York Giants. Thomas suffered a torn ACL during a preseason game against the Bears this past season, that forced him to miss the entire season.  He indicated that he’ll be 100 percent for next season. Super end to Baas’ challenging season

In the summer, David Baas was a name Giants fans did not want to hear. Nothing against Baas. It was just that every time he was mentioned it was part of an indictment of general manager Jerry Reese. As in, “David Baas was the only free agent signed from outside...

VICTOR CRUZ KICKS OFF MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK

Fresh off the Giants’ Super Bowl win, Victor Cruz helped to kick-off what is often touted as fashion’s Super Bowl, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. After a record-breaking NFL season, the wide receiver and Big Blue fan favorite signed with IMG Worldwide to negotiate his marketing and endorsement agreements. While Cruz will likely attract interest in a range of sponsorshup...

Eli Manning will probably make the Top 100 players this year

I was asked a few times during Super Bowl week to rank Eli Manning’s place in the current quarterback hierarchy. For 2011 alone, I put him in a tie for fourth with Ben Roethlisberger behind Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees. Before 2011, Manning would have been closer to No. 10 than No. 5.…
