New York Giants linebacker, Michael Boley, is currently under investigation due to allegations of child abuse of his 5-year-old son. The news was first reported by TMZ earlier today.
According to the report, Boley is alleged to have participated in willful abuse of his son over a 1 week period last spring (May 30 to June 5) per police in Gadsden, AL.
No formal charges have been brought against Boley, and no details have been released, but the information is in the DA’s hand and he is expected to present the case to a grand jury and let them decide if charges will be made.
Giants spokemsan, Pat Hanlon, has told the media that the team is aware of the situation and does not wish to comment any further.
Boley’s attorney says the allegations come with demands for large sums of money for child support and denies and wrong-doing taking place between Boley and his son. He also pointed out that no demands for restrictions on visitation have been made at any time.
It should be noted that this isn’t the first time Boley has been involved with abuse allegations. He was arrested in 2009 for domestic battery against is then-wife. The NFL suspended him from the first game, which would have been his first with the Giants.
