The Blue Screen:
The Giants will go into Sunday’s game with just two quarterbacks - yet another strong sign that Eli Manning is ready to play.
Manning and backup David Carr will continue to be the only Giants quarterbacks on the active roster when they face the Oakland Raiders after the Giants declined to promote rookie quarterback Rhett Bomar from the practice squad. They had until 4 p.m. to make that move, which they would have made if they feared Manning wouldn’t be ready to play.
The non-move doesn’t guarantee Manning will start, but shows the Giants believe he’s healthy enough for emergency duty behind Carr. As the Daily News reported earlier, Manning went through the team’s walkthrough this morning, following his normal Saturday routine the day before a game.
The Giants will make a final decision on Manning’s status Sunday morning, but it sure looks like he’s ready to make his 83rd consecutive start.
