The New York Giants suffered several injuries during last
night’s second preseason against the Indianapolis Colts, but none was larger
than that to wide receiver Victor Cruz. The dynamic wide out exited the game
with an injured heel, and head coach Tom Coughlin told reporters – including Ralph
Vacchiano of The New York Daily News – that he’s not sure of the severity of

X-rays on the ailing heel were negative, but Cruz figures to
undergo further testing today. He’ll be sidelined indefinitely, and there’s a
chance he could miss the team’s remaining preseason games, even if it’s just
done as a precaution.
After agreeing to a long-term contract extension with the
Giants, Cruz was slated to be one of Eli Manning’s top receivers for years to
come. They can only hope that the heel injury is minor and doesn’t put the
start of Cruz’s regular season in jeopardy.
