Originally written August 19, 2013 on NFL Injury Report:
The New York Giants suffered several injuries during last night’s second preseason against the Indianapolis Colts, but none was larger than that to wide receiver Victor Cruz. The dynamic wide out exited the game with an injured heel, and head coach Tom Coughlin told reporters – including Ralph Vacchiano of The New York Daily News – that he’s not sure of the severity of the injury. Is Cruz injury serious? Said Coughlin "I don't know. He runs to make his living and obviously has an issue with his heel." — Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoNYDN) August 19, 2013 X-rays on the ailing heel were negative, but Cruz figures to undergo further testing today. He’ll be sidelined indefinitely, and there’s a chance he could miss the team’s remaining preseason games, even if it’s just done as a precaution. After agreeing to a long-term contract extension with the Giants, Cruz was slated to be one of Eli Manning’s top receivers for years to come. They can only hope that the heel injury is minor and doesn’t put the start of Cruz’s regular season in jeopardy. Follow @TheNFLInjuryRpt Looking for fantasy football advice?
