COWBOYS: 24

GIANTS: 17

The NFL kicked off in dramatic rivalry fashion with the returning Superbowl Champion Giants taking on their NFC East foe Dallas Cowboys. Much maligned Quarterback Tony Romo came, saw and conquered while in MetLife Stadium as he threw for 307 yards including three TD’s and came up bigger than Eli in the 24-17 victory.

The hero of the night props goes to wide receiver Kevin Ogletree who caught 8 passes for 114 yards including two Touchdown passes in the game giving the Cowboys the edge throughout. Another boost for the Cowboys was the job of their defense, which of recent was the culprit of ridicule but looked solid tonight under the helm of Demarcus Ware who made history as the 2nd fastest to reach 100 sacks behind Reggie White. The Giants conversely failed to get big plays from their receivers and their defense lay vulnerable as the game progressed where they proved more and more vulnerable as the Cowboys receiver broke free and gained separation. Of course, the ever inept running game of the Giants was one of the crucial flaws with befell them tonight, but between their poor rushing and the Cowboys problems in the secondary it’s become a given that they’ll have to live with.

So what happens from here? The Cowboys now have the advance honor of boasting an undefeated record (very briefly of course) as they acted swift in getting a W over their division rivals. It’s clear that the Cowboys and Giants will be focused on taking sole possession  of the NFC East even more than before, as with last year the Giants who just a game over .500 took off from a victory over the Cowboys and won a Superbowl. Romo has the most pressure on him than any QB in the league to win a playoff game so it’s crucial he make the final step needed in this pivotal contract year he’s in for a franchise desperate to return to former glory days.
