After two straight wins against division foes, the 49ers are alone atop the NFC West with a sterling record of 2-0. They dispatched the reigning NFC Champions in Week 1 in the desert and then the only other undefeated team in the Division, the Seattle Seahawks.
Without a doubt, this season shows promise but then again so did 2005; which was the last time the 49ers entered Week 3 with a record of 2-0, and preceded to lose a horrific eight consecutive contests and eight of their last 11 games to finish 5-11. San Francisco registered 10 points or fewer four times and were outscored 190-76 during that span.
While their next eight opponents have combined to go a paltry 8-7 in the first two weeks of the season, allow me to spell out just who those opponents are.
Next week San Francisco plays the best back in football and the NFL's Leading Rusher in each of the past two seasons in Adrian Peterson not to mention the wildcard that is Brett Favre. In Week 5, they play ...
