Now that nobody in Green Bay has fingernails left and some will be sporting new gray hairs on their head it is time to sum up the game. This game featured a battle between the starting quarterbacks as Aaron Rodgers threw for 319 yards and four touchdowns.  Not to be outdone Drew Brees threw for 446 yards and three touchdowns. In terms of offense, the Packers had a solid attack.  They ran the ball effectively; Benson had 84 yards on 18 carries.  They passed the ball well and the offense seemed to have some ebb and flow to it, something that was missing in the previous weeks. The defense, however, appears to have regressed from their last couple of weeks.  While they stopped the run when they needed too, the Saints gained only 45 rushing yards on 19 attempts, they couldn’t stop the pass.  On multiple occasions the Packers gave up big yardage on third down, usually on passes right over the middle of the field.  Brees is a good quarterback but the defense looked just as poor as it did l...

Needed early season improvements for the Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are through one quarter of their season so it is a good time to look at what the team could improve on, in list mode of course!Improvement # 1 – Figure out the offense’s identityA big issue for this seasons Packers offense could be the lack of identity.  Last season it was all Rodgers all the time.  This year, however, the Packers have a somewhat stable...

Why I Traded Drew Brees

Brees has played three of the NFL's worst defenses so far - Redskins, Panthers, and Chiefs - with two of those matchups at home.  Nonetheless, Brees has "just" 904 passing yards, 7 TDs vs. 5 INTs, and a 6.7 YPA.  Not awful stats, certainly, but they're a far cry from the Brees we saw in 2011.  I spent a fair amount of time this week trying to figure out which...

Drew Brees Ties a Long-Time Record Today In Green Bay - On a 20-yd TD pass to WR Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints Drew Brees has tied Johnny Unitas’ NFL record for most consecutive games with a TD pass at 47! Unitas’ record spanned from 1956-60. 52 years later, Brees has tied it! Original Story Here!

Johnny Unitas’ son sent Drew Brees a letter congratulating him on tying his father’s record

There was at least one bright spot for the Saints in the loss to the Packers on Sunday. During the game, Drew Brees tied NFL great Johnny Unitas’ record of 47 consecutive games with at least one touchdown. Brees now has a chance to break the record that has stood for 52 years this Sunday when the Saints play the Chargers. And all he has to do is do what he does best, throw a touchdown...

Bowen: Early thoughts on Rodgers and the Packers

Colts Authority Daily Links 10/01/12 Kevin Bowen of Colts.com has a brief but good write-up in which he talked to Drew Stanton, Antoine Bethea, and Robert Mathis about...Aaron Rodgers and the Packers: The best thing you can do is try and put pressure on him,” Stanton said. “As we’ve seen in the past, if you put pressure on him, it’s more difficult to try and do things...

Juan Eye On: Marques Colston

Time for me to put a smile on that face Juan… Marques Colston was one of my favorite undervalued WRs coming into the season.  Drew Brees was going to throw 5,000 yards again, right?  Colston has easily the 2nd best target after Jimmy Graham coming into the season, but that has not come to fruition.  A foot injury has caused a lack of production and according to reports, he could...

Captain Comeback Week 4: Matt Ryan's MVP Effort Tops Big NFC Week

Captain Comeback Scott Kacsmar says the Atlanta Falcons did something no team has done since at least 1981. Also: an Aaron Rodgers comeback, New England's rout, and the Cardiac Cardinals/Eagles strike again.

PSW week 4 Fantasy recap

Philly Sports World Fantasy Week 4 recap Predicting the Saints to lose and they did I am now 2-2, though not the way I predicted it. Drew Brees showed up and showed up big but it wasn’t enough. Fantasy owners got huge points off the 446 yards and 3 touchdowns. DUD of the week Cam Newton> had him as a fantasy sit against the Falcons and he has his best game of the year. Having...

Green Bay Packers win shoot out over New Orleans Saints

The Green Bay Packers were able to win a passing shoot out with the New Orleans Saints by the score  of 28 to 27. Packers grade out well in victory over Saints

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The regular referees were back, but the Packers still couldn't escape a few costly botched calls. But unlike Week 3, Green Bay was able to overcome the officiating mistakes and improve to a 2-2 record. Handing out grades following the Packers' 28-27 win over the Saints: Passing Offense: B Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns passes in this game, which...

Saints Nation: Saints' Defensive and Special Teams Player Grades @ Packers

There's nothing more to say about this defense than to sum it up by saying they suck. I hate to be that crass or simplistic, but right now they really don't do anything well. The run defense is porous, the pass defense is shaky at best when they are 100% healthy (which hasn't been often) and the pass rush takes bad to a whole new level. I have a theory that this defense...
