With Jimmy Haslam III stepping down from his position as CEO of Pilot Flying J, it is believed that the new Cleveland Browns owner will be even more involved with the day-to-day activities of the team than originally anticipated.

Upon being introduced to the city of Cleveland, Haslam stated intentions of living in Knoxville, Tennessee through portions of the year, as well as remaining as CEO of his multi-billion-dollar company. One week into the football season, things changed. ESPNCleveland’s Tony Grossi writes that Haslam, though being wrapped in coincidental timing, appears that this calculated transfer of of his position was somewhat influenced by the last few months of time spent in the otherwise troubled halls of Berea.

“The only reasonable conclusion you can reach,” writes Grossi, ”is that Haslam has spent enough time walking the halls of Berea, examining the books, and, yes, sitting in on personnel meetings, to realize there is a lot of work to be done immediately with the Browns.”

Haslam was noteably a part of Pat Shurmur’s press conference following the team’s embarrassing 17-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. This alone was a drastic shift from ownership under one Randy Lerner.
