Fox Sports Southwest:
DALLAS Dez Bryant played two full seasons and three games of his junior year while attending Oklahoma State. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver had his junior season prematurely ended when he was ruled ineligible after lying to the NCAA about his relationship with Deion Sanders.
Bryant's coach at OSU, Mike Gundy, was asked Tuesday about Bryant's ability to move past the off the field problems he has encountered since being drafted in 2010.
Bryant was arrested on July 16 after allegedly assaulting his mother at her DeSoto home two days earlier.
"Dez, as we all know, is an unbelievable talent and is trying to make strides to do the right thing, and I'm not really informed on what happened just recently," Gundy said at Big 12 media days in Dallas. "I only know what I saw in the news. I've been out of town and haven't really paid much attention.
"But it saddens me to hear negative things come out about Dez, and hopefully he can get it together."
According to Gundy, Bryant was monitored and received support from several members of Gundy's OSU staff while the Lufkin native was on the Stillwater campus.
"When he was at Oklahoma State, we were with him all the time every step of the way," Gundy said. "We never really had many issues with him. And when I look back at the times, I think that the coaches that were there, they stood next to him and they were there with him and it worked out well for us.
"And hopefully he can get back into that trend in the NFL."
During his two-year NFL career, Bryant has been issued a criminal trespass warning at a Dallas mall, faced multiple lawsuits for failure to repay loans and detained by police in Miami for an altercation at a night club.

The Ball Is In Your Hands, Dez Bryant
You know his name. You've heard the story. But you don't know the man that is Dez Bryant. He wears No. 88. It's the same number Drew Pearson wore. It's also the same number Michael Irvin wore. But, wearing a number that a Dallas Cowboy legend wore doesn't guarantee success. It only adds fuel to the fire.
The fire is Dez Bryant. The fuel is whatever drives him...
