Fox Sports Detroit:
Kicker Jason Hanson will turn 43 in a couple months, but he's not done yet.
Hanson, an unrestricted free agency, has informed the Detroit Lions that he plans to return next season for his 22nd year in the NFL.
Contract terms still need to be worked out, but Hanson had previously indicated he realizes he'll need to take a pay cut after having a cap hit of more than 3 million in 2012.
The minimum annual salary for a player of his experience is nearly 1 million.
Hanson, a second-round draft pick in 1992 by Detroit, continued to perform at a high level last season when he made 32 of his 36 field-goal attempts.
He said wanted to take time after the season to contemplate retirement.
On the eve of free agency, Hanson notified the club of his desire to come back for another year.
