The 49ers enter training camp next month in a role completely reversed from where the franchise was last summer. When the lockout lifted last July, the team was waiting to install new offensive and defensive systems and waiting for a college coach, in Jim Harbaugh, to take over. The results -- a surprise 13-3 season, NFC West title and a fumbled punt from appearing in the Super Bowl -- were something no one predicted. They've also changed the outlook for the team, inside and outside the organization. They come into the season as the most tested team in their division, but they are also saddled with sky-rocketing expectations with many prognosticators predicting a Super Bowl appearance. Harbaugh has answered such questions with one of his stock responses. "We're just trying to figure out a way to win our next game, and that will be against the Green Bay Packers (in the opener)," he said. "Our expectations are day-to-day. Trying to find ways to get ...

Carlos Rogers: Jim Harbaugh is “a little crazy”

Getty Images San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers was a guest on Mayhem in the AM on 790 The Zone in Atlanta (via and was asked what it’s like to play for head coach Jim Harbaugh. “It’s fun. He’s a little crazy,” said Rogers. “He do things different than, I would say, a normal head coach. You’ll see the guy holding field goals for...

Joe Montana Building Entertainment Complex Near 49ers New Stadium

Santa Clara officials have given former 49ers superstar quarterback Joe Montana approval to begin negotiations with the city. Montana wants to build a hotel and entertainment complex across from the 49ers new stadium. The project covers a total of 8 acres, including 2 of city-owned lots. Montana says he has money for a four-star hotel, a sports bar, an upscale restaurant and additional...

Rookie Fantasy Football Preview: A.J. Jenkins

A.J. Jenkins was projected to go in the second round by the majority of scouts, and he was the definition of a reach in the first round. The 49ers have taken some significant heat for the selection, but I don’t have a major issue with it outside of the fact that they probably should have traded down to the early second round if they really wanted Jenkins.   Jenkins is an explosive...

Niners now prepared to be the hunted

The 49ers’ situation as they enter training camp next month is completely reversed from a year ago, when the team was in suspended animation like the rest of the NFL. The struggling Niners were in a state of flux worse than others as they waited to install new offensive and defensive systems and waited for a college coach in Jim Harbaugh to take over – the team’s fourth head...

2012 Fantasy Football TE Rankings

.1. Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots: 1327 yards and 17 TDs (plus a rushing score). Gronk is ridiculous. He got paid, but I don’t think that will slow him..2. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints: Hard to argue with 1310 yards and 11 TDs. He’s become Drew Brees’ favorite target, which is always a good thing..3. Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers: Really blossomed during...
